PCA SDR

The weather forecast is for clear skies so the lot repair is a go. I'll be at
the lot by 8:45 after picking up the concrete with Tim Comeau and Martin Lipp.

I'd think it will only take 2-3 hours.
I'll strategize on how to break up into teams tonight.

For those that don't might not want to get concrete on their hands (not a
problem for me) please bring some gloves. I'll bring some but I don't have 20
pairs.

The kids will be allowed to write their names in the concrete ... for traction
grip purposes of course!

Thanks to Bill Behun for coordinating the effort and everybody else that helped at the stadium today.
I think we really made a dent in the bad areas of the West lot that were decreasing our useable track space. We'll still need to thread our track designs through some areas and run parallel to some of the other cracked up sections, but it's far better than it was!
TV station KUSI even showed up to film the car clubs taking care of our city! Good press. Film at 6:00PM tonight!

I'd like to hear some stats for the day. Chime in guys!

Martin Lipp hauled the first bags of cement from Lowes. 20?
I hauled 2 loads of cement from Home Depot- 1 with 20 50lb bags, and the second with 30 50 lb bags. That's 2500 lbs of cement mix right there! Thank you to Richard for fronting that money for the club (City).
There was at least one other trip made for cement.
Some crews were hauling water. Some crews were hauling away the broken up asphalt.
I looked around at one point and we had three teams at different sites pouring cement. Those City workers ain't got nothin' on us! ......and I didn't see one person leaning on a shovel ever!
There were other car clubs there too. The BMW club took the top of the lot near the Bud sign. SCCA took the middle section, and the PCA took the rest down almost to the trolley tracks.
We knocked off around noonish and there were still a few spots we wanted to hit so maybe we'll patch those up during an AX in the future.
Really nice work everybody. Good on you.

Tim, You forgot to mention that BMW and SCCA did the top 1/3 while PCA did the bottom 2/3. We also hauled away more than triple the amount of broken asphalt and poured an equal ratio of concrete than the other 2 clubs combined. We poured 80 bags total (good thing Bill has a slush fund). PCA kicks butt again!

I wanted to share the glory with the other car clubs.
I think the BMW guys are now mad at the Lamborghini Club....cuz that's where I said I was from as I drove off with several of their bags of concrete mix! But hey, we were using it up faster than they were...

Hey now, I just thought I would chime in, being a Dual club member, but as being in charge on the BMW Front for the day.

BMW Club poured 85 60lb bags of Concrete ( I personally bought and tracked usage), in some holes that were 6ft x 6ft. We may have started off a bit slower, but we stayed a little longer and poured nearly 4900lbs of concrete!!!!!!!!!!!

And Tim, I knew EXACTLY WHO stole my Concrete!!!!!!!

SCCA claims to have poured 150 bags, but I know they were using the 50lbers like you were.

On the BMW Side, I'll say we made a very concerted effort to make the top section as usable as it used to be, as it has fallen apart pretty bad.

I will say one thing for your PCA course designers to plan for. There is one very large section that we did, that is a small portion of a larger patch that the stadium had done. We have concern how well it will hold together as it's only about 2 inches thick, on top of DIRT, yes Dirt, not other asphalt. We deemed the area Close enough to usable pavement to fill, but we think direct usage should be avoided, at least for a month until the concrete cures 100%.

All of our other patches in that top area should be 100% driveable by your event on the 24th.

I'm really glad your "House move" went well.
I didn't steal the crete as much as "temporarily comandeer" it..... We did actually return just as much as we borrowed.
Like I said, we were much more productive, uh, I mean, busy than you BMW guys were, as least early on.
We, too, tried to patch areas that would add to the useable area the best. If it was too close to an obstacle or between 2 obstacles, we skipped it.
Also, I'm not sure who beeped the horn at me from that truck painted with BMW factory colors?..... I was driving my truck with Porsche graphics. You might want to find out who that was? Cuz I totally had that turn, man! The apex was mine!

Trust me I know who borrowed what, SCCA "borrowed" a few bags on my way back from a Lowes run.

I was the only one driving "The Dually" as we fondly call it (it is a dually after all), I don't remember that instance, but when I'm driving it I follow the Rules of Physics, as far as who has the LINE! The more mass it has the more right of way it has!!!!!!!!!!!

We didn't patch anything that was in a dangerous or unusable area. We did patch one or two things that were maybe not "ONLINE" but just beyond to create a larger non cratered runoff area, thus increasing the usable space.
