I have uploaded my photos from yesterday's Porsche "Race for the Championship" Women's Tennis Association Cayenne Auto-Cross event at Staples Center.

You can browse them in a photo album at Shutterfly:
http://share.shutterfly.com/osi.jsp?i=EegMnLJqzaM3Rw¬ag=1

If you want full-resolution downloads (approx 1 MB per photo), they are available at XDrive -
http://plus.xdrive.com/u/77131574/130984613Ekel2dN39tpS8lqVS3r

You may want to browse the album at Shutterfly to see which photos (if any) may be of interest - you can then download the full resolution ones from XDrive.

It was a fun event, unfortuantely the payer I had been assigned, Venus Williams was a no show  . Serena did show up but did not drive or ride (waiver issues?) :?:
Tim had the winning player Amilie Mauresmo, who had a great time in the Cayenne.

The thumbnails of my pics are up on NikonNet.com:

Thanks Kim and Greg for documenting our fun yesterday. It was a real kick for me and it was a great group. Who knew so many SDR drivers would be in LA?

It's been a busy few days so I have not had an opportujnity to extend a public thank you to the SDR members who assisted in a great event. You all know who you are..

There are some fantastic photos at the Getty Images website. Go to: http://editorial.gettyimages.com/source ... |0|0|0&p=5

There are a few photos that feature Jad and Amy Duncan. Also, due to extraordinary product placement, Tim Comeau's helmet has now gained worldwide exposure. (Tim, there is a fee!!)

BTW, Lindsay Davenport was awarded the silver Cayenne Turbo that needed front tires at the end of the day.

We'll have a lot of these photos at the Zone 8 Banquet in January. There were hundreds of photos taken by no less than 100 professional and amateur photographers. We'll see how many we can acquire.

These photos at Getty Images are FREE (at least the 20 photos from the Porsche WTA event shoot). :D

You need to go through the entire process of registering and "pricing" the photos before downloading, but the price of each of the 20 displayed photos is $0.00, so there is no cost to download high-resolution images of the photos.

You will need to register (and give some kind of company affiliation - they don't seem to understand about personal downloads).
Then select the photos of interest and click the "Add to Cart (free)" link next to the photo.
When you have the photos in your cart, you will need to select the "Go to Cart" link to "purchase" the photos for download.
When you are viewing the photos in your cart, select them all (click on the checkboxes above the photos). Next you will need to click on the "Calculate Price" button and describe how you will use the photo - I chose "Internal Company Use", then "Wall Decor Print", "one print", use in the "United States", start on today's date, use for "up to six months", and used for "Travel/Tourism". After you have selected all these (phew!), click the "Get Pricing" button. It will calculate and display a summary with a price of $0.00. Click the "Add to Cart" button (yes, again...).
When all the pictures have been priced, your cart will allow you to "Checkout". You will need to enter credit card information, but you will not be billed.
Once you complete that step, you will need to check the "I accept the license" terms checkbox and the "Complete Purchase" button.

FINALLY, you will reach the Download page :D - select all the images and click the "Download" button and it will download a Zip file containing the clean (no watermark) high-resolution images to your computer. (pant, pant, ...) The photos are each around 1+ MB in size.

By the way, that is Jackie Corwin "coaching" her player in the right seat of the Cayenne under the ESPN/NASCAR mural.

I would prefer that anyone wanting copies download directly from Getty, as use and distribution are strictly according to the licensing agreement that you have to accept.

*** Note to all - for some reason, the one of Vera Zevonareva waving the green flag is NOT free - it came up as $210.00 to download).

By the way - having an account with Getty Images is pretty useful. They have an incredible library (the largest publicly available?) of images and their rates aren't bad for single-use, or internal company use. I have used them before for presentation images and gotten really nice graphics for a fee of $10-20. :D

By coincidence, the first guy I drove around the track Tuesday was the Getty Images photographer (Spencer?).

Thanks, Kim, for doing such a great how-to on acquiring those images. I'm sure we'll see lots more. BTW, "Streeter" was the Getty Images photographer.

I also saw enough photos to match most of the instructors (coaches) with the players. However, the first evidence to photographically confirm (though I can do so by oath) Dave M. with Maria Sherapova is likely to be offered and receive a finders' fee.

Mmm... Those player helmets all look alike in the cars. I shot several pictures of a car with David Marguglio, but since the driver and passenger windows were up, I can't tell who is in there (where is the safety chair when you need one?).

I think David might want to frame one of the Getty Images shots - 51711365_10 has Sharapova and her "coach" (with a helmet that looks a lot like David's) reflected in the side mirror.

Congrats to David Marguglio - his student ... er, player ... won the WTA championship. :D

No doubt she just listened to everything he told her, then did the opposite.

I am getting ready for an article for the Jan witness and need some help with the instructor/student pairings, I mean coach/driver pairings
Also if some of the instructors (coaches) have some stories/info to add about the event, send them to me at editor@pcasdr.org

Thanks
Greg

Yep. Dave's girl might have won the Tennis Championship, but my girl got top time of day........and that's what really matters!
The guy running the show, Martin Peters from PCNA, just sent me a super nice 2005 Porsche factory calendar. It's pretty cool!
I assume other instructors got one too?

Greg, for the article:

I started explaining to my student Amali (like Emily) that the Cayenne was very heavy so it's going to really move on the suspension, when she interupted,
"Oh, I know. I own one."
Really? Which model?
" The Cayenne turbo."
(I thought, this one's in the bag, baby!) TTOD!
I started to build on her pre-existing knowledge....."Well, if you enjoy this model, you'll really love the Carrera!"
She knowingly responded, "I do."
I asked, "You have a Carrera, too?!"
"Yes, a C4S."
I playfully wrapped both hands around her neck and said some choice words in her native French. We had a laugh together........And then together we stomped Dave Marguglio's student. What the heck was her name?.......Calistoga? Ah, what does it matter? She lost. :P
