2009 DATES for DAVID & GOLIATH Competition

Postby seguina on Mon Mar 02, 2009 9:59 pm

Hi GANG! OK TEAM GOLIATH.........Don't be caught sleeping again this year :roflmao:

WELL, AS MOST OF YOU KNOW.....
OCR's "little" TEAM DAVID beat SDR's "challenged" TEAM GOLIATH in 2008 :D

I WOULD SAY TEAM GOLIATH HAS BEEN MEASURED, WEIGHED AND CAME UP SHORT ! :beerchug:

OCR even captured the SDR flag at the Drivers Awards Party which I will bring to our first event.

If your new to these events here is the basic's. We use SDR's Bench Racing Index to level the competition for all cars in all classes. The top 5 places from each team is counted. 1st place is one point, 2nd two points etc. The team with the lowest total score at the end of the four events wins. Last year 220 points were scored and OCR's TEAM DAVID won by 4 points ! Over 20 different drivers scored point for the OCR and SDR TEAMs.

WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO ANOTHER GREAT TIME WITH OUR SDR FRIENDS... :burnout:

HAVE FUN! STEVE

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TEAM DAVID AND GOLIATH COMPETITION DATES:
MARK YOU CALENDER'S TEAM GOLIATH WILL BE ON THEIR GAME.
OCR - April 19
SDR - July sometime when we get a date from the stadium
OCR - August 30

Both dates in OCR are sponsored by Vision Motorsports. Vision has done a great job in the past, including lunch and giveaways included.

Is that better than the "Steve I'll change it when ever BRI"?

I am still not seeing our supposed "Massive Campaign" to get SDR drivers that Steve speaks about on OCR's website.
Any thoughts on the 1 car per entry for the D vs G BRI rule? Otherwise I would say get Gary B, Jad , Erik and the other hot shoes to drive the same (stock) BRI car.... :beerchug:

Would that be the LS Boxster of Pierre Maurier and Carl Vanderschuit - that could get interesting, since half the team is OCR and half SDR. We could wind up having everyone just drive that car - I am sure Pierre and Carl wouldn't mind...

Hi Gang!

The first event is at OCR on April 19th. Vision Motorsport usually provides a nice lunch and fun setting.....last year included palm trees, flamingo's and a "pool"

I'm thinking Kim should be in charge of mounting the MASSIVE recruiting campaign for SDR...since the treasure controls the money :D

Jay Lee could fire up his transporter and bring up a couple of the "very quick" 911's that hangout in San Diego.

I think the  Kinninger cars have "real" lisc. plates. :roflmao: ........So come on bring up the ringers and the 2,000lb Porsche's........David has plenty of "stop watches" no in case the timing equipment goes down.

We promise to have a fun fast course..... :burnout:

Sean,
If none of the SD people go, usually one or two spec cars. They know how to AX up there. I did the whole series last year and wasn't dissappointed. Worth the drive. I like all the extras: food, giveaways (chairs, hats etc) and the trophies are better. (Sorry SD, it's still my home, though....)

Jackie's right. Great times at El Toro.

I'd recommend the following since you're sitting out on the middle of the runway:

1) Good chair for resting. I've had a couple of lunches sitting on the asphalt now.
2) Shade. There is none ... I repeat, none there. Umbrella, Easy-up, whatever. Take shade. If you take an easy-up, be ready for a party in your pits. :roflmao:
3) Running shoes. Sounds silly, but the OC crowd doesn't have a truck for Corner-Workers. Yup, you gotta walk out ... chase cones ... walk back. Be prepared to change shoes for corner-working. Now I know why Dan A. doesn't like to Corner Work. At his age, he gets lost coming in from corner working. (hehe :) )
4) Wind-breaker (No ... I'm not referring to someone with gastritis!) Every time I've been there, the wind blows. (Seems every time I drive there my driving blows, too! ) In the "cooler months" it's a cold wind.
5) A cooler with post-event "beverage." The base and the sponsor/organizers are tight on consuming alcohol on base and none is offered post-driving, so a cooler and a bit 'o' discretion are needed for those who need to quench "the thirst." :beerchug:

I'm going to try to make a couple of event for the good of the team, and to save on the tire wear. The surface there is really nice.

Hope to see you all there from SD. 8)

Boy, you never know how many people read the forum, until you have to take tons of grief for an earlier comment made on this thread. In my defense, OCR could never top running a flawless event, with more laps than ever, with all the results and photos posted within 12 hours, from start to finish. I defy any other club to try to replicate a fraction of our teamwork.

Sean,

I'll be there in 944-Spec for sure. I posted a thread in the OCR forums to ask if any others plan on making it out regularly.

Cheers,
Chris
