Porsche car costs in Hong Kong

Postby kary on Sun Mar 29, 2009 4:20 pm

I always knew many places around the world had higher automobile costs, but last night we were out on Hong Kong Island and saw a Porsche display inside a mall. Much like an auto show display. They had a Cayman, Boxster, Cayenne, and 911 on display with the costs listed.....suffice it to say the 911 S was 1.975 Million HKD. That my friends is about $250K USD. Wow!!!!

Astounding!

I think that's more than Singapore, where it's about $220K US if I recall.
Plus, you have to get a COE (Cert. of Entitlement), or registration, which goes by auction (they only grant so many per year).
Depending on how many folks are itching to get a new car, the COE auction can go for $80K US or more, and oly lasts for 10 years
(which means you CAN'T own a 993 there - it's more than 10 years old).
