A friend wants to get his wheels polished (or chromed, but I advised against that). What are the good places around here for wheel refinishing?

Doesn't Wheel Enhancement do that sort of thing?

Not sure. They were my first thought, but their website doesn't really say so, thus the posting. Plus, a more local shop might be nice if they do good work.

You might want to try Velvet Touch, one of our Witness advertisers, at 760-846-0942. They refinished a wheel on our Boxster and we were impressed with their work. They even came to the house to do it.

I've been taking mine up to Al Reed Polishing in Anaheim. They do powdercoating and anodizing, too. It's a bit of a drive to deliver them, or you can ship them UPS.

Wheel Enhancement is very good, as is Harvey Weidman in Oroville, but they are more expensive.

I had some old fuchs refinished by US wheel polishing. They did an ok job and were pretty inexpensive. I have seen lots of comments posted on bulletin boards with rave reviews for Al Reed in LA. I think they would be best for high quality work.

RW Little, on Pacific Hwy has done wheel refinishing, bead blasting, and powder-coating for a lot of local guys. They did my 17" wheels ..... nicely done.

Mike Gagan has done several different wheel refinishes through RW Little on his 911 beauty. He goes for those quaint colors like Burgundy, Chartrouse, Mauve, Emerald.....

Just kidding! Seriously, lots of folks have used them, as have I.

Yeah I did try various anodized colors but they just faded with brake heat, turning red into pink!

Agree RW little for powder coating.
I have since stayed with the grays.
BTW, the Powder coating has held up great to the brake heat.
For polishing I've had good luck with Romero's in El Cajon,

If you're just going to blast and powdercoat instead of polishing, I would also suggest El Dorado on Commercial St. downtown. Usually faster and cheaper than RW Little, with comparable quality. (619) 696-0700

Some general advice........Don't go to L.A. for anything.
If you want powder coating, painting, polishing, plating, you'll find it very cheap to go to one of San Diego County's industrial centers like,
El Cajon
National City
Escondido

Save your money for entry fees.
