Anyone Familiar With This Car In Fallbrook?

Since it's such a small community I was wondering if anyone in the club is familiar with this car?
18K seems pretty reasonable.

Um .... er ... gosh. Well, let's see....

Do you want a Porsche-purists opnion or a "Bling" opinion?

Depending on what they've done mechanically to the ... uh, 911-sorta-thing ... it started out as a 911SC, if it's an '81. SC's are priced a bit less than 18K unless they've been thoroughly "worked-over" ... in a restorative manner. 911SC's can go for $10,500 to around $15K depending on condition and maintenance. You can occasionally find a great deal on an SC for under $10K, but it might need a little something re-done.

What kind of car are you looking for? I know of an '88 Carrera that would go for less than 18K, and is really a beautiful car.

That's where I'm comin' from. I own and '83 911SC. (Sorry, but this one looks more like an Acura.)http://sandiego.craigslist.org/nsd/cto/1200971479.html

Hope that's a start.

So a 930 is not a nice Porsche? I thought they were turbos? Doesn't look like an Acrura to me, but maybe i'm not that familiar with Porsches from the '80s. Thanks anyway.

Well they did not make 930s in the 1981, only 911SCs, in other words no turbos that year. And that body mod is something else altogether, looks like a Strosek kit, though probably a knock-off. So you have a real mash-up car there and it certainly will not appeal to everyone and needs to be looked at carefully to be fully understood so you know what it really is and is not.

Right now it's a buyer's market like I have never seen. Just hang tight and watch the cars pop up. Have it checked out by a good Porsche shop here in San Diego. They can tell you right away if the car is worth the asking price. Good luck.

Thanks for the help. I didn't realize it was a body kit mod. I knew sanity was only a thread away. :D They're always to good to be true, I think I'll continue my search for a Boxster donor car for Spec racer. 8)

Porsche made 911 Turbos (930) from 1976-1989.
No USA versions 80-85 however.
81 was actually the first year for the slant nose turbo option... and they made one.
I doubt it is this car.

This car is highly modified and you are usually better of with a stock-ish car.
930's have their own set of headaches and are really only for turbo lovers.

Boxster spec will be much more fun with way less hassle.

I would do lots and lots of research before I bought anything. There is a lot to know!

well if this is a real 930 but is a gray market car then that is a whole other can of worms.
