Last minute details regarding Fontana DE

Postby SDGT3 on Thu Jun 11, 2009 2:21 pm

Hello everyone,

I just wanted make a new thread with last minute details regarding our upcoming DE at CalSpeedway in Fontana:

1. If you haven't already done so, please pre-tech your car in the next couple of days with an approved PCA shop. This makes it SO MUCH easier for the tech and onsite registration team.

2. Onsite tech will be open at appx. 7-7:10 a.m. for those that could not pre-tech.

3. Driver's meeting at 8:15 a.m. Track goes hot at 9:00 a.m. We have a tight schedule so we'll have to be as efficient as possible and run on time. We don't have a PA system for the track, but we've got the bull horn and are planning on bringing an air horn to give the paddock 5 min. warnings before their run group.

4. Driver's will need to wear long sleeve shirt and long pants, closed shoes. All drivers in car classes that normally wear race suits in club races or time trials (modified or highter), need to wear those along with the correct shoes, and gloves.

5. The gas station inside the track with race gas WILL NOT be open. I've never seen any race fuel sold at the 3 gas stations outside the track, so if your car needs to run on octane higher than 91, you will have to bring your own.

6. We will have our own BBQ concession stand with food, drinks and snacks set up in a couple E-Z up tents just outside our bank of garages. The corner workers will have only 45 minutes for lunch, so when they come in off the track for their break, please allow them to have "front of line" priviledges so that they can eat and be ready for our afternoon run sessions.

7. For those that are coming up the night before (Sunday), I've received permission from the track to allow us to leave our trailers and cars at the track and in our assigned garage parking spaces. Please note Speed Ventures has the track until 5:00 p.m. and then will be vacating the track to go home. We must allow them to do so and then come in to take our spots. We cannot enter the track infield before 5:00 p.m. and must be out and off the track property by 7:00 p.m. There is no overnight camping or anyone allowed within the gates after 7:00 p.m. and before 7:00 a.m. the following morning.

If anyone arrives before 5:00 p.m. and wants to hang out before we are allowed to go into the infield section, there is a large parking lot just before the tunnel (on the left) to enter the infield (underneath the track) nearest the go-kart track. There is a Los Angeles Kart Club race this Sunday and you can watch free of charge from that vantage point. Isabella will be racing on Sunday and if you feel so inclined to cheer for her, she's in a yellow KRT kart #10.

8. Track goes cold at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Rumor has it that a certain person has raided the equipment trailer of some beverages for those that want to re-hydrate and wait for the traffic to die down. :beerchug:

I'm sure I'm missing something, but we'll add to this thread as we go.

The DE Team is really excited about this new venture in our chapter's DE history and hope the general membership is as well. In response to the positive feedback thusfar and the number of entries, (WE ARE SOLD OUT WITH A WAITING LIST!!!! :burnout: ) we are being proactive at this point. I've already had preliminary talks with this track and others about securing more favorable dates for 2010 before their official calenders are released. Stay tuned as we move forward! :D

Almost forgot, please bring your numbers for your car. If the corner workers need to identify you on track, it's easier with your number on the sides. Those that don't have numbers, you can use tape as you would at an autocross.

Thanks.

I know on weekends the gates on open at 6 a.m., but "Officially" it's 7:00 a.m., (maybe on weekdays?). I've always arrived at this track before 7 a.m. and it's been open.

If the track is hot at 9 then I would think the meeting should end at 8:45 or earlier, so because the schedule is tight as you say maybe we can get through the meeting effeciently. Being that even students have to have a good amount of experience perhaps we can tailor the info accordingly.

Thanks to everyone for this event, it looks like its going to be great!

Oh, Mr. Quesnel? Can you drive up and tech my car tomorrow? :roflmao:

Yeah! Fresh fluids, fresh brakes all around, car is teched and all ready to go. Woooh! Lets shred some rubber!
Do you need a PA of some sort? I live near the track and own a PA that actually fits in the passenger seat (Quality JBL gear). I don't LIVE to bring it but I offer to if you do need it. I also picked up a few extra metal Fire Ext. bands that I will bring. If someone comes set up for Milli-Vanilli (plastic band clamp) we can hook them up with Ozzy or Metalica to meet Zone 8 rules. They were about $10 with shipping.

That's the spirit Dave!!! Hope everyone has got their tech done by now. :D

Thanks for offering to bring a PA. I know it would make a BIG difference in the paddock for getting information out.

I'm sure someone will need a metal band. Let's all remember that we have a fair amount of people who are new to big track excitement and are coming over from autocross.

Our base location is going to be in and around Garage #21 (we have building #3). This is where all the meetings and reg. will take place.

Have a great weekend and we'll see everyone in Fontana!!!!! :beerchug:
