We just wanted to say, "Thank You"

From the DE Chairs, Peter, Martin and Carl:

We just wanted to sit back and see what the response to this event was before commenting on the future. We're very pleased on how the event ran and can see that everyone else is as well.

Special thanks to the PCASDR Board for supporting us on this event  . In these economic times, we told the Board we wanted to do something different and get away from the status quo of Qualcomm and then ask them for more money than they've ever spent for a DE!! The two newbies to the Club, Martin and I, didn't know how that would go over, but luckily Carl is a long time SDR member and provided the "track record" to reassure those that might have been apprehensive. We're happy to say that the event made money and the exact figure will be reported to the Board at the next meeting.

Most of you don't know what goes on behind the scenes, but a very important person makes this all go. That particular person was not even at the event, but I would be remiss to not thank her. Our very own Janet Yaws fields questions from all angles about this and that, forwards them, acts as a go between, modifies our requests and deals with Motorsports Reg. I can't count the number of e-mails and requests from both the DE Team and participants that are exchanged back and forth to made this happen and this is just one group she deals with. The AX, TT and other events are all on her plate as well. We couldn't have done it without Janet, so THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!

Our Volunteers that make the day go smoothly are also to be thanked. Tech had a long line, but there were several of the "Tech Guys" there (Dave, Steve, etc) and were able to get the cars checked out and ready in time. Sorry if I didn't mention all of the Tech guys names, because I know there were a lot of you and I was running around working to make sure we were going to get off on time  .

Registration with Debbie Sharp was at the track bright and early and makes it look easy every time. Our safety Chairs, Jim Binford and Jackie Corwin setting up the track and dealing with any issues that arise throughout the day. Our three Chief Instructors, Chuck Sharp, Mark Rondeau and Dan Chambers doing what they do best. :D

There were also a couple of guys there that we're not even driving, but came down to lend a hand. I don't know if there were more than these two guys, but if there were, thank you. Jim Duncan just came up to help out and not drive, but was very valuable in Tech and as an instructor  . Steve Eguina did not drive, but was very helpful as an instructor. Thanks to you both.

Thanks to Smilin' Dave, aka CajunDaddy for bringing the PA system. It made a big difference in the drivers meeting and set the festive mood with the music set up to the iPod. Thanks! :D

We didn't have many mechanical issues at all, but its always comforting to see the experienced mechanics like Mark Kinninger and Steve Grosekemper in the paddock just in case!

Thanks to Greg Phillips and Mark Rondeau for taking pictures and Greg for taking my student to free me up to float and do my others duties as DE Chair.

Big thanks to the Club for making my wife and Isabella feel comfortable and welcome at their BBQ tent. It can be a little daunting to be around a group who all know each other, but you were all so gracious that I couldn't help but be happy to see them smile so much. Thanks to Katina for providing Isabella with her official "Porsche" apron to wear during the event. I'm happy to report Isabella kart fund made enough to buy her a new set of tires and part of her next race entry fee. THANKS SO MUCH FOR SUPPORTING THIS (and thanks to Martin for coming up with the idea).

Last, but certainly not least, a BIG THANK YOU for participating. The DE Team was sweating out the details of what it would take to just break even. You can imagine how we felt that we were not only going to break even, but when it sold out and had a waiting list!! There were a lot of different cars there from Porsche, BMW, and even a couple of Ferraris. We opened this event to not only all Zone 8 regions, but to different car clubs to make this work. So thank you to the participants. The DE Team has already discussed what might be in store for the future! :beerchug: Sorry if I didn't mention everyones name, but please know the DE Team is very appreciative of ALL of your efforts!!!

Peter, Martin and Carl,

I know I said this each of you after the event, but THANK YOU! I know you guys were sweating the turn out, but it turned out very well. Thank you to all of the volunteers and instructors who showed up, worked hard and without whom, these events couldn't happen.

Katina had a great time and really impressed me with her driving. I think it's going to get a little more expensive for us now that she's done her first big track event. We're looking forward to the next one.
