Wheel question...

I need an 8.5 or 9 inch (x18) wheel with a very sallow offset (zero would be perfect) to fill out my +2 front fenders. Do any non-911 Pcars have this as stock (928, 968, 944,,, anything)? Maybe early 911? I would like to find something (ebay-ish) to work until I can afford custom 3 piece wheels...

I don't think you're going to be able to find any stock 18" Porsche wheels with that low an offset. The later cars, when 18s started being commonly used, were all higher offsets (45-65mm). The early cars used smaller offsets but diameters were still in the 15-16" range then. The 5x130mm bolt circle is unique to Porsche, so you can't easily find stock wheels from other marques to fit, either. You're pretty much stuck with using custom wheels or add spacers to fit any of the common stock 18" wheels, I think. The closest offset to your needs was on the early 9x16" 911 Turbo Fuchs wheel, but it was still 15mm and 16" would probably not fit over your brakes. Besides that, they are in high demand and often go for $1200/pair, which is more than some custom 3-piece wheels.

Your car is a 993, right? IIRC, you can move the front suspension to the wide body configuration, right?

The car is a C4S (widebody), so I don't know about changing or adjusting the suspension outboard in any way. Steve G?..

I did not realize that it was already w/b. Sounds like longer studs and spacers is the way to go, then.

Not gonna go with spacers- too far to go. I am hoping to find a Porsche that has the right offset, or close to the right offset and see if I can find some aftermarket wheels in 18" that I can buy cheap(er). What is the offset on a 924, 944, 968, early 911?

16" are as big as you could get on the 924-44 series cars as far as I know. The 944 turbo S came with massive 225/16 and 245/16's! I think the base rim on a 924 was a 5.5x13 :shock: , but the offset should be about right. Why don't you try some of those :roflmao:

Custom CCW's seems to be the popular choice currently.

You can't run that kind of offset on late suspension.
If the ABS comes on or you hit very uneven pavement under braking it will rip the wheel right out of your hand.
ET45 is the least offset for "normal" factory 18's
There is a 18x9 ET34 for a 993 GT2...But that is going to be expensive I think.

I would think a 10x18 ET40 would be your best bet. (turbo look -I)
A 996TT or C4S rear wheel has a 18x11 ET45 that is pretty easy to find for test fit... but that is getting pretty big in the front.

BTW- when you decrease offset you loose turning radious as the wheel hits the wheel liner.
You also kill wheel bearings.
