2004 Driving Awards Dinner and Appreciation Celebration

Postby Dan Chambers on Sun Dec 05, 2004 3:03 pm

Greetings All:

This year, the Board of Directors has agreed to have a very special Driving Awards Dinner and Celebration evening in appreciation for all the drivers who have participated in the driving events of 2004. Awards for the 2004 Autocross, and other driving events/special recognition awards will be presented at this very special event.

Following the Autocross on February 12, 2005 there will be a Buffet Dinner and open bar at the Berkeley Restaurant on San Diego Bay, next to the Maritime Museum and Star of India. The cost is $10.00 per person. Dress is "Autocross Casual" ("Autocross Casual" means wear what you wear at the track. 'Eau du tires' cologne, shorts, t-shirts, driving suits, jeans and polo shirts are all wecome) and inviting your spouse, family, bosses, or anyone who has supported your 'Need for Speed' is encouraged. We're working on having videos and pictures available for viewing during the celebration.

The event will start at 5:30PM for happy-hour (beer and wine at the ready) and the buffett will open around 6:30 or 7:00. So, you can drive directly from the Q after the A-X, to the celebration. In fact, I encourage it. I'll be there with Track Shoes on.

The special awards will be presented at both the Installation Dinner, and the Drivers Awards Celebration. The specific class awards will be awarded at the Driving Awards Dinner only. All of those drivers in the top three positions of their class should attend this celebration and receive their awards. I strongly encourage the drivers to attend the Installation Dinner, too. Since the Board reduced the individual cost of the Installation Dinner this year ($40.00 per person), you can attend BOTH events this year for the cost of last year's Installtion Dinner. So, go to both!!

Come join us for a night of good drink, good food, excellent bench-racing talk, and recognition of a great season of driving.

See You There!

Do we pay at the door, register in advance, let someone know we're coming, etc?

Update

Postby Dan Chambers on Fri Dec 31, 2004 9:36 am

Hi guys and gals:

I wanted to remind everyone about the upcoming Installation Dinner and Driver's Awards Banquet and Celebration coming up. Being a 'fly on the wall' for a lot of the planning of these events, I can tell you that there is going to be a really good time at BOTH events this year.

The Charity Team is still organizing some great items for the Silent and Live Autions for the Installation Dinner (thanks to all who've donated stuff and services!), and the Driver's Awards Banquet will have some really nice items (related specifically to driving) to bid on at their Banquet Silent Auction (from Porsche Parts to special services offered by prominent Porsche shops locally).

So get on it and sign up!! The Installation dinner is January 8th (just a week away) and the Driver's Awards Banquet and Celebration is Feb. 12th, after the A-X.

See you there!!

I guess whomever scheduled this considered that Feb. 11-13 is the POC Las Vegas 3 day Time Trial?
The party sounds terrific, but given the choice...............
