"Pre-owned" warranties

I am thinking about transferring a 99 Carrera to my son. It just turned over the Porsche warranty (by age rather than miles -- only about 30K). I don't want to transfer to him without a warranty however. Does anyone know if/how I can purchase a limited Porsche warranty for the car as part of the transfer?

Any Porsche dealer should be able to sell you an after market waaranty, but shop around, there are big price differences, plus some have better coverage than others. I purchased a 4 year warranty for my Audi from the dealer next to Pioneer Porsche for a not too terrible sum. It was about $600 less than what Hoen wanted. Good luck.

Try Warranty Direct

You can find Warranty Direct on the web. I found their prices very competitive, and they paid off on two major claims on my '98 Boxster. Pioneer handled all the paperwork with them. They offer several levels of coverage, all the way to bumper-to-bumper (which I find most comforting). You normally can get them only while the original factory warranty is still in effect, but it can be extended for periods up to 100,000 miles, with various numbers of years.
