Request/question about the Autocross calendar

Greetings,

As most of you know I am a Pastor. The denomination in which I minister has services on Sunday. I know others meet on Saturday or various other possibilities. As I looked over last years Autocross schedule I noted had I been trying to be active, unless I took a Sunday off (which is very rare) I would have been able to attend one Autocross event as the rest were all on Sunday. Given that rate it would take me 5 years to qualify to drive at a Time Trial. Unless I showed up at 1 pm Sunday after church and grabbed a half day AX. I was fortunatle enough to attend two as I was one vacation for the Nov. event. :D

Yes I realize that Sunday seems to be the traditional race day after all the movie wasn’t named “On Any Saturday”. And yes I really realize that Zone 8 isn’t all about “me”. And yes, I realize that there are perhaps other scheduling factors with the stadium unknown me. However would think that perhaps there are others who would appreciate a staggered Autocross calendar as well. With that in mind I hope that the board and Autocross Chair would consider having the events on Sunday one month and Saturday the next if possible. Anyone else feel this way? Or am I “out standing in the field” (I would much rather be “outstanding in the field”! lol :burnout: )

Happy Thanksgiving to you all!
Mark

Hey Mark!

I like Saturday AXs better anyway because I like a day to rest before good 'ol Monday comes up!

But, our AX Chairs have to meet with all the other clubs and the Stadium and hash out the schedule. So sometimes we don't have a choice. I don't know if you can ever make it to OCR AXs - that may be an another alternative to getting more seat time!

Always a tough issue. As Jennifer says, we do have to do a song and dance with the other clubs for dates. Not to mention that the dates the stadium makes available aren't up to us in the first place.

Another issue is that Saturday is typically family day. Soccer games, baseball games, whatever. It's when the kids have things that occupy the parent's time. While I haven't tracked things in detail lately, I do know that when I watched attendance figures, Sunday events were always better attended. Good for the club, but yes, not so good for those that work on Sundays.

Don't forget the PDS counts! So that is a couple more days in your favor!

Good things to know. I figured it was a bit more complicated that what a first look would show. I guess I could hit the OC, but that would feel like playing for another team! lol  After the schedule comes out I might have to take a harder look at it though.

Tom Thanks for the heads up about the Performance school. That counts as two days of driving then? If so then I am half way there. :o

Happy Turkeyday!

Having scheduled AX's for three years, I can tell you that you get what you can. There are three to four car clubs (BMW, SCCA, Karting, plus one or two others) the used car and motor home sales and the hot tub group, plus the football, soccer, and Johovah Withnesses (sp) to content with. Not counting that every club wants the West lot. So you do your best, but Sat. is just the luck of the draw..

Mark - I've scheduled for 2 years now (1 with Ron). What Ron says is true.
I tried for a 50-50 split this past year and but it sure didn't work out. :banghead:
The AX team will try for a 50-50 this year too.
