To add a twist to the scene, Richmond's engine started making rod bearing noises during practice. It looked like he would have to bow out and let Foxx take over the points lead, but in the purest of 944 Spec class ideals, in stepped Santa Monica's Chris Allen with an offer to use his spare 944 Spec racer, formerly owned by PCASDR's Bill Addy. How often do you see that? Richmond made a few adjustments to get the car the way he liked it and finished high enough to keep his points lead and capture the wheel-to-wheel title.
Not bad for a parking lot racer!
