Kinda' a sad Video on Racing

Postby John Straub on Wed Dec 16, 2009 4:36 pm

This is kind of a sad video on the race track Reims in France.

They held Sports Car races as well as F1 at this track. It was closed in '72 and bulldozers demolished some portions so the track could not be used for Vintage Racing.

Just think about the sounds of 917s and early 911s screaming by back in the day.

Check it out.

One of the lessons in life is that everything has a beginning, a middle, and an end. So whether it's your favorite mountain bike trail, the "Q" parking lot, or a good friend, enjoy it while you have it...

Watching these videos helps you understand why so many drivers and spectators were killed in the early days of racing. There was no wall between the pits and the track. People were sitting at tables along side the track. Short sleeved shirts and slacks on the drivers. Those guys had kahunas.

Dave you crack me up :roflmao:

I think you mean cahones... (As in a big set or to be fearless)

Kahuna is a Hawaiian word, defined as a "Priest, sorcerer, magician, wizard, minister, expert in any profession."

Thanks for the laugh...

A car barreling through those pits...you might need a priest.

Dave, as one of the Club's resident track "Kahuna's", I just thought you were just bestowing the same honor on our brave brothers of yesteryear. That's what you really meant, right? :roflmao:
