LIFT OFF

No lift off without ignition :(

Looking for an Electromotive HP-1 6 cylinder unit.

Anyone got one collecting dust in their garage :?:

Ted,

You probably have your reasons for running Electromotive. I've been using Haltech successfully for years now.

On my Ferrari I run an E6x for controlling 8 motorcycle coil on plug units in waste spark AND a simple batch fire EFI. One of these days I'll upgrade the system to something that will run full sequential fuel injection but I just haven't had the need yet.

For controlling just ignition you could use one of these units, a 3 channel ignitor from Haltech, and then pick your coil packs or get real creative and run some kind of coil on plug unit. The motorcycle coil on plugs I run on my Ferrari setup might be long enough to reach the plugs ... I luv not hassling with plug wires and extenders anymore. Also I just used a MSD DIS4 for my ignitor portion from the Haltech box instead of the 3 channel ignitor I suggested above from Haltech ... a bit more spendy though.

If you start experimenting with coil on plugs switch to resistor plugs if you haven't already ... the lack of any spark plug wire or extender with resistance built in can make for some interesting electronic inteference issues.

Cheers,

Sean

One other thought ... I think the coil on plug units used on the later water cooled motors have the ignitor built in. They have a 3 wire connection instead of 2 which is why I thought there must be some kind of ignitor in there ... does anyone actually know if this is the case or not? They are way longer than the motorcyle units I use and have a large "assembly" on the top which I thought would be doing what the MSD/ignitor boxes do ... they're adding weight so there must be a function :).

cheers
