Thanks to the charity team, PCA SDR was on TV this morning donating over 150 toys to the hospital. I have the video copied from TV (unfortunately, even at OK quality the 4 minute video is 60 mb), along with a bunch of pictures, so if anyone wants to see it, I can try to burn a CD with the pictures and video. PCA!

Jad, I really, really want a copy. Please, contact me.

I was the continental orange SC parked behind you at the hospital. I think we got some good air-time.

I'll gladly pay for your services or CD expenses, whatever. I'm leaving town early Thursday. Would it be possible to pick up tomorrow? I'd like to show my in-laws over the holidays. I believe we're nearly neighbors in Del Mar.

I should have time to burn a quick CD, work is really busy, but that should only take 5 minutes. If things work, no problem, if problems develop for some strange reason, it may have to wait until next week.

Jad, I wouldn't mind watching this. Can you put it someplace to download? I think we even have room on the server if we want to make it available to others. I'll have to monitor the bandwidth though.

I have a couple of disks with the video and all the pictures I took and a few from Bob (you will have to deal with lots of shots of Miles), so if you want to come by, you can have one.

Jad,
I have an XDrive account with 5 GB of available storage. I am sending you a "share" link to a folder - you should be able to upload the full file (up to 1 GB) to the share drive.
Once that works, I can share it publicly and anyone will be able to download the full video.

It is uploaded. The quality isn't great, but the file is still pretty big.

The file is in a Public folder that anyone can access.

Go to
http://plus.xdrive.com/u/87557946/7427890012WJp9JOhSggcCbwW54H

You will need to "register" with XDrive to retrieve the file. This requires the following steps:

1. Click the link above to get to XDrive
2. It will ask you to enter your e-mail address - enter a valid e-mail address
3. Your e-mail will immediately receive another confirmation link
4. Use the confirmation link to get to XDrive again
NOTE - you will be offered a "free trial" subscription account (which requires a credit card authorization and which automatically switches to a paid subscription after 15 days!!!).
Instead of that, at the bottom of the page is the "Free XDrive" account link - you can use the Free XDrive account to access a public folder :D
5. Select the Free XDrive account option
6. Enter name and password
7. You will now proceed to your "account", which will show the shared public folder containing the movie file

Sorry for the XDrive rigamarole, but it is a pretty good way to share large files (or folders with large numbers of files). I use it a lot to share/distribute very large files across the Web.

Thanks everyone for getting that posted. There MUST be a better route to this. In order to get the video on this site:

1) KUSI filmed it and broadcast it
2) I Tivo-ed it off cable
3) I then played Tivo onto a big screen TV
4) I video taped it from TV into a digital video camera
5) I downloaded the video into my computer
6) I uploaded into Kim's Xdrive account
7) Then I assume Mike D downloaded from Kim's account
8) Mike then uploaded onto the PCA site

Yikes, isn't technology great!

Interesting that you could not just copy the file from Tivo to your computer. Is that not possible?

Mike:
Without some fairly sophisticated hacks added to a Tivo you cannot pull video off of them.

Jad:
You should be able to hook your camcorder right up to the video and audio jacks on the back of the Tivo and play the show right into the camera. You can use the "save to VCR" option.

Sounds great, but of my 3 camcorders, none seem to have a 'video in'. I have not experimented with using the video out, but would love to know a solution as I am getting a lipstick camera for the racecar, but I need a video in on the camera to use it.

If someone has solved this problem, please save me from having to re-invent the wheel or buying a 4th camcorder

Which Digital Camcorder do you have? Even though it appears as "out" it can usually be set in the setup of the camcorder for 'in'.

I have a Sanyo and a JVC mini8 digital and a Sony 8 mm. I will try the video out as an input, though the cable will take some playing as they do not have standard AV connectors (at least the digital don't, will have to check the old Sony).

Thanks, once I have the lipstick camera (Xmas morning???) I will be able to play more.

It sounded so easy, get lipstick camera, plug into video camera and your done. Oh technology makes life so much simpler...
