Hmmm. Track looks pretty good. Not too sure about the other amenities (although I'd rather "stand behind" creosote than poison ivy ).

Here are the directions from Google Maps. It says about 3.4 hours. I'd guess with a trailer over the Santa Rosa Mts., maybe a tad longer.

You could gas up and prep in Palm Desert just before you hit the 10 fwy east (there's a Costco with gas right next to the 10) or take your chances on fuel, etc. down the road.

Just guessing, but I'd recommend trailering even for a one day event. A breakdown out there means "desert cast away" unless you can pimp a haul from a buddy.

Looks like a fun track, all in all. Maybe KOA can set something up out there.

I would suggest staying off the "Pines to Palms Highway with a trailer. If you haven't driven it before, it is very twisty and steep. Lot's of fun in a Porsche, no fun towing a Porsche. I would suggest taking the 15N to the 215N to the 60E and meeting up with the 10E in Banning. From there, go east to Desert Center. Stop in Palm Desert or Indio to stock up on Gas/Food/Beverages, etc. I'll be staying in La Quinta (about 50 minutes from the track) when I go. It was really nice of my parents to get a condo there so that I could use it.

This topic should probably be in general discussion and not in announcements for the above reasons. Maybe the mods can move it down, but since we're on this, we've done a little recon in the area and can tell you that the track will sell fuel both 91 and higher. There is a Chevron about 9 miles from the track and we're working on getting a group rate for lodging.

We're still 7 months away. We'll post more info as it becomes available.

I'm sure that the DE chairs will gather all of this information and put it into a format similar to the one used by the TT team regarding directions, food, gas and lodging.

True about pines to palms hwy.

Your route would take about 4 to 5 hours. Reasonable with a trailer in tow, and a lot safer.

Dan, I'm not worried about hijacking, but I have noticed that the "Announcement" section doesn't get as much traffic or "hits" as the general discussion section and we've been basically "discussing" this event here, including this post

Anyway, Mark is correct in so far as a general e-mail will be sent to every registered participant for future DE events just like what the TT series issues. Naturally, the DE info will not have anything about timing and scoring, but otherwise, will be similar.

I'm working on the May 8th DE information packet right now. The Chuckwalla info is not close to being completed because actual facilities need to be build and operational including, but not limited to fuel at the track, etc. We will not disseminate any information that will not be 100% accurate and ready for use at the time we use the track.

Although not as intense as the Coronado DE was to put on, given the fact this is a brand new track and a lot of bugs need to be worked out, we want to make sure everything within our control is "right" to make it a pleasurable experience for all our participants.
