Great track, great weather, great people... what a day! Thanks to Ryan at RSR who worked until the wee hours last night to get my car running. I didn't know what to expect when I picked up up my car at 6AM today. THANKS!

I had no idea that a 944 could actually get top BRI. It must have been the tires/track/temperature/angle of the sun/tire pressures.... Oh wait, those are my old excuses. Thanks to everyone for the nice words and encouragement. :beerchug:

In my opinion, we should have more of our tracks laid out like this one. It was a great equalizer in that the "big cars" weren't much faster than the slowest ones, it was all driver. And driving skill is what it's all about.
Fine drive Mark

Congrats Mark, nice drivin' dude! Taking a GP car to #1 BRI is what dreams are made of... Enjoy!
(so I guess nobody noticed those solid fuel rocket motors bolted to your undercarriage during the timed runs. Doh!)

Congrats to Mike Avitt for TTOD also. Sorry I missed it. I am heading to Buttonwillow next weekend so this is "chores weekend" arrgh. Installing drip irrigation is almost as fun as autocross... or not.

Don A. thanks for the wonderful track design, it was a BLAST! There was a bit less known, but notable thing happening in the top of GSS class. I have had my sights set on nudging Jerry B. and perhaps getting close to Andy M. but they have been untouchable thus far. Yesterday all the moments in time seemed to align and I was able to put up a nice 1:10:70 run in Tuffy (my 924S). I thought I might just have #1 sewed up as Mark "Crash" brown had not run anything under the high 1:11's all day. Then, on his first timed run he hit all the right marks and proceeded to post a 1:10:60 and that on 205 tires! Talk about driving, WELL DONE! David P. Was right in there, running on his original 20 year old suspension and Christopher A. will be pushing us before long as well I am sure. The competition was really fun gents, Jerry and Andy I am sure will be back with a vengeance and things will get even tighter. Keep your eyes on GSS, we may be stock-ish and nowhere near the amazing TToD or BRI honchos but the competition is boiling here. :beerchug:

Mark
The Faster Pastor............ (well getting there at least)

Thanks to all for another great event. Thanks to Mr. Grosekemper for the hospitality. Big congrats to Mike Avitt for is TTOD, well done Mike!. The new Hankooks , while sticky, I do not like as much as the 710's for that surface. After my last practice run the rocks were embedded in the tire after they cooled before timed, maybe a little too soft... Just couldn't duplicate the 102.1 during practice. :banghead: I'll run these out then its maybe 710's or ra-1's.
See you all next time.

Congrat.'s to the top finishers: Mike Avitt and Mark Rondeau. You guys really ripped that track up! Don Auten, great track. Keep that one in the "saved" files. It's a keeper!

I thought I ruined the RA-1's and would tuck them to bed for good in the recycler's bin, but I still have one more event on 'em. So, I'll stock 'em in the rafters, and when the Grosekemper/Phillips team decides to play "Spec-I-I Class" I'll mount 'em up. Maybe at the no-points O.C.A. event in December?

Great day, great friends, great driving by all. See you in June.

I have to agree with everyone else, that was a great track! Pretty quick and with a good flow to it. Let's do that one again.

Drive of the day goes to Mark Rondeau, dude you were flying !

Great AX guys.. What a course that was. It felt like I had to learn how to drive again. I'd gotten used to just sticking it in 2nd gear and staying there for the rest of the lap, but this time I had change up to 3rd three times!! Bring on more of these types of courses.. Very challenging.. but so much fun!

And congrats Mark on the BRI win. Very well deserved. Ryan at RSR Motorsport definitely hooked your engine up nicely.

Hassan, Great driving yourself. Two AX's in a row with you, Kim Crosser and I as the top three in BRI. The recent tracks are rewarding well balanced cars... and driving on the edge of out of control. I felt like I was going to take out half the track every time I went around. Can't wait until next month to see what the AX chairs have in store for us. :beerchug:

+1
Each time I went around that first right-hand, off-camber bend in high 3rd I was wondering if it was going to stick this time!
I am also somewhat amazed that we only had one car try to take out all the finish/timing stuff - that double kink after the slalom seemed designed to get you badly out of shape at speed.
Great track - having three big 3rd gear sections really added to the fun!
