PCA SDR

Some of us headed north to Buttonwillow for the PCA Zone 7 and Golden Gate Region TT and also PCA Club race this weekend.

The Zone 7 folks were quite hospitable, at lest for the red run group
We were not so hospitable as we let Otto Obrist take TTOD at 2:03(official results pending) and it looked like several Zone 8 drivers were in the top ten.

Thanks to Ethan for hospitality letting us stay in his toy-hauler and Steve (BFB) for getting the 911SC to drive so well that I was down to 2:12 for timed runs. (in the master's hands it was a 2:07)
We need to invite them back for our Buttonwillow event

Great pics as usual Greg. Do you know where the results will be posted? Not that I'm curious to know how others did... I wasn't even there.

Thanks for the pics Greg. It was great chasing you guys around the track. A great event and the best BW weather I have ever seen 68-72F. Usually it is either 95+ or 40F with snow advisory. I had a total of 5 students this weekend so I am kinda tired. It's a good tired though. Congrats to Otto (The Animal) for TTOD in the TT, and Chuck Sharp for an excellent showing in the SPEC race. I am still licking my wounds. My lil Bro beat me in the TT by 1/100th of a second! That is just wrong in so many ways .

I do have a copy of the raw results but I am not sure if GGR will post an "Official" version or not. If there is a keeper of records here at SDR I can fax them over???

Sounds like you guys had a blast. I wish I could have been there, but I blew my BW budget on engine repairs.
I guess Dan learned some things at Spring Mountain. I heard that you two have cheater cars and that you're picking on the less talented. Looking forward to running with you guys soon.

Grrr, I want to drive, but I'm still lacking "motivation". Maybe if I punch a hole in the floor I can propel the car a la Fred Flintstone.

Which version of the track did you guys run?

Man! Looks like I missed another fun event. DARNED PLUMBING! While you guys were breaking track records, Monica and I were breaking out concrete to fix 50-year old plumbing. Nothing says love like a little t^rd-chasing!

Speaking of chasing, it's no wonder I can't catch the number 97 car; look at all the rubber stuffed under those fenders! Sheesh!

The one we usually run, 13 (I think) with Phil Hill (Lost Hill), Star Mazda, Bus Stop and the short On-Ramp in the clockwise direction.

Not like those Hoosier slicks on the Red Rocket But horsepower does make a difference to go with the slicks.

Thank you for the kudos guys. Just doing my job for our San Diego region and Zone 8 We dominated We should ask Zone 7 for a rematch at our Buttonwillow event in September. Besides the added revenue won't hurt. How about it Jack and Robert? They have about the same drive time to Buttonwillow as we do, 4.5 hours.

Yes, the Hoosier slicks work very well but I did have problems getting heat on them, which affected my first timed lap. Anyway, it could have been worse as at one moment during the weekend I thought all was over when I heard this grinding noise in the drive train. It turned out to be the rear-axle drive shaft, the one on the driver's side, but luckily we had a spare which Ryan of RSR Autosport installed at the track in no time at all. To add to the good news, the car stayed sparkling clean all weekend with no offs or spins and no flat-spotted tires. You already heard about the weather Hope we can have a repeat in September during our event. It's going to be a long summer

Race Configuration 1.
Button hook is not used or even there anymore.
Look at Gregs pictures to see.

Just curious because back in 2006 we ran the extended button hook....which is at least 4 seconds slower.. well maybe not 4...

Confirmed, config #1 CW. I have run #13 CW before but it uses the sweeper instead of Star Mazda and is a bit quicker. I actually prefer config #13 because it is a little easier on the brakes. Going from 120mph-45mph to enter Star Mazda is murderous.
