Driving Opportunities at Coranado Speed Festival?

Postby lbevins on Mon Jul 05, 2010 7:48 pm

Does anyone have any info on opportunities to drive at the CSF this year?... Just around the corner, in September? Dan, Joel, Mark, Peter, Martin, Jack, Robert, John, Don... anyone? I know that last year we did a TT, or "track day" type of event, I think on the Thursday before, along with a "Ride-Along" event (for active military personnel) put on by the instructors, on Saturday.

Are we planning on a repeat this year. Just asking 'cause I know that a lot of us had a lot of fun and want to know if we get to do it again.

Thanks! And thanks, ahead of time, to all the people who pitch in to make the CSF a great event for our club.

Mmmmm. Thanks, Mark. That answers the question about the TT. Does anyone know about the "Drive-a-long" event? That is the event where we took active military personnel for a couple of laps on a short ax course. They loved it. Big smiles all around. And what a privaledge to give something back for their service to our country.

Cheers. Larry

Well here is what I've found out.

Sad to say, no club is doing a driving event before the Vintage Races due to the cost of the track setup a few days early and the lose of the runway space for the base.

That is the latest word as of today.

Will there be a group paddock for our cars or any type of tent for seating? I remember last year there was some pretty cool opportunities for members but my wife and I missed it so we are really looking forward to this year

Hey Chris,

Yep, we are planning the same thing as last year. We just don't have all the info yet.

You guys that are asking about the Porsche Club parking area and VIP tent access will need to make sure that you do a couple of things :

1. Get your tickets for the Speed Fest online (they're cheaper if you buy them ahead of time). And, of course there are single day and multiple day options.

2. Corral and VIP tent access is typically available through John Straub. There should be some kind of announcement in the Witness regarding this, if there isn't already.

John... Anything to add to that?

See you guys there!

They sent the contract to me today.

The tent will be a 40' X 20' in the same location as the last three years, next to the track. We will also have food on both days as well as corral parking. :)

I posted the dates on my blog a few months ago, for those of you not on it, they are September 25 and 26. Save the dates!

More info will be coming.
