Chuckwalla is the Newest SoCal Racetrack. This exciting new track is located about 50 miles East of Palm Springs just off Highway 10 in sunny Desert Center. This track is approximately 2.7 miles long and 40 feet wide everywhere.
With several bits of very well engineered elevation, this track provides the most elevation changes outside of Willow Springs. These elevation changes provide several diving blind corners and a banked bowl turn with the same banking as Cal Speedway’s front straight.

It's the best of Buttonwillow and Spring Mtn combined and closer than both.
Imho much more fun and safer than SOW or the Fontana infield.
Chuckwalla has many fast/long 3rd gear sweepers and very safe and smooth oversize run off areas. 8)

end of day one, 2:06.
Amy at the track office said many teams think Chuckwalla is the best place to test and tune.
After a summer of curing with light use to prevent moving around, this fall the new smooth asphalt surface will be in optimal condition.
Today the track CW is rubbered in, CCW not quite.
fwiw stunt bike rider Jason Pridmore and Mickey track owner offer an end of Sept. weekend DE for all makes.
Same price, 30 expected, go out anytime, no run sessions.
I wanna chase a 2:00 car.
Can't wait to get back, 104 degree at the track today, mild...

At the 2nd car day I was running a consistant 2:04. Since it's a bit more rubbered in since then, another second or two should come off pretty easily.

Although track knowledge there is pretty big with the long blind sweeping corners.

If there is a vote for direction I would prefer CW, as in the direction shown on the map with corresponding numbers. Especially since is our first time at this track. Any feedback?

It's a flip of the coin on what way we're going to run on Saturday vs. Sunday. It may be more rubbered in running CW, but I thought it was more challenging, ie fun, running CCW. Most are going to treat this like a 2 day event so we'll get a run a poll after the event to see what everyone liked better.

The Chuckwalla event is fast approaching.

To address the direction question, when discussion about the weekend began, both BMW and PCA had to make some deals. As the BMW Rep, I allowed Peter and Martin to pick which day PCA wanted, in exchange BMW got to pick the direction.

We have reviewed and decided that we would like to run CW on Sunday, so Saturday will be CCW.

Check the top post for links to register for both PCA and BMW. For the BMW day, a competition liscence or equivalent is required. The BMW event will be broken into 3 maybe 4 run groups, depending on final numbers. Those sessions will be based on experience level and passing rules. But the basic break down will be something like, Club Racers and Advanced instructors in the top group, Beginning racers and instructors in the next group. beginning instructors and previous advanced level BMW club students. So when registering, choose what you feel would be an appropriate run group and we will do to accomodate everyone.

When not airing NA$CAR, Pimp my ride or Dangerous Rides :banghead: , SPEEDTV has a a 1/2 hour show called Battle of the Supercars. Last night they aired a piece filmed at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway. You can see the track is very wide (40') , curbing looks good, but we will struggle to find markers/reference points  out in the desert.

Just to clarify about BMWCCA's policy on motorsportreg/refunds on this event as it is different from PCAs policy:

There is a full refund up until the last day to register which is Oct. 27th for BMWCCA. If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me.

The other question that popped up is the tech inspection sheets. Initially it was believed that the Saturday PCA tech inspection would suffice if you were driving for both days just like any other track weekend. However, due to insurance regulations, each club will need to have a tech inspection form on file. I've included a link to the forms that need to be filled out if you are going to drive on Sunday, Oct. 31st:

http://www.sdbmwcca.com/docs/ChuckwallaTech.pdf

Just have your tech shop fill out both at the same time.

As we've done all year, the DE Team will send out an information packet about the weekend in the next few days via e-mail.
