Hot Lap Timer

I just called Longacre, as the current Hot Lap Lti in-car receiver/display on their website looks different than the last one I bought several years ago. I need one for my current car. They told me that the current one works on a different frequency than the old system and the two generations of timers are not compatible using the same transmitter.

Does anyone have any experience with this, or whoever brings transmitters to DE/TT events, is there one of each frequency or just the older version?

Greg,
If there is a new one, PCA SDR does not have it. I replaced the original, not even serial numbered ones about 3 or 4 years ago and we are still using those.

I've been bringing the hot lap equipment to the TT events for the last couple of years, and I'm fairly certain that we are using the older version of transmitters. I also happen to have an older version receiver that works with our cuurrent transmitters if you need one. Glenn

Not sure about frequency as the new (Lti) and old systems are using IR beams to trigger the in-car receiver. The new one uses LED's on the transmitter and looks more efficient but I would not be surprised if it will trigger the new or old systems.
The new display/receiver has more features and they are trying to compete with the new GPS based systems.

The new one is much nicer and smaller than the old longacre hot lap timer, it's similar to the small AIM MyChron Light but for less. I had this one ordered a few month back, but then returned as I was told it would not be compatible with the old transponder which we are using.

(Lti™ Hot Lap™ system components are not compatible with older Hot Lap systems)

The older Hot Lap systems are no longer available.
