With yesterdays AX my season comes to a close, since the Nov. AX is on a Sunday I can't attend. I want to say thanks to all of you who have encouraged, gently educated and welcomed Kari and I, we feel like part of a big family.

I was able to realize one of my goals for the year by beating Andy and Jerry at an event (they claim it was poor tires...but I'll take it anyway I can get it!) I did take a 1st in Snickers (Paul's 911) but was unable to make my second goal of taking a first in class with Tuffy, thanks to Mark Brown slapping me by .01 for the win! As to my third goal, well taking first in class for a season is most likely not ever happen for me due to my profession.

Finally, It was nice to see people enjoying and being challenged by a track I designed. I would encourage anyone who has even a slight inkling of interest to submit one. It is a strenuous and rewarding exercise. If you are driving an AX and don’t like the layout, please don't complain, instead channel that into getting a pencil and paper and start drawing. (Yes I am of the "If you don't like it, help make it better." camp) Or maybe we should just call it the "Put Up or Shut Up" program?

We will still be at various events this year including the PDS next weekend, and look forward to seeing you all.

All in all its been a Good First Season.

Now, here is the question and another reason for posting this.

How can we (all of us) make the nest one BETTER!?

Why does your season have to end now?

You can come up to El Toro on saturday Oct 16th and lay some rubber down on the beautiful surface of MCAS El Toro (ret.) a recently closed Marine Corps Jet Air Staion. The surface is beautiful (no pot holes)
PCAOCR will be hosting the event and Walters Automotive Group will be sponsoring.
Kari is welcome to help out in the timing and scoring if she would like, or she could just enjoy the cool ocean breeze.

Oh believe me that was a consideration...but not attending my niece's wedding in favor of a driving event miiiiiiight casue a bit of conflict thanks for the invite and we REALLY do need to get to an OC event, as El toro is just across ortega Hwy from us.

As you may notice I changed the thread subject as I realized that part of my intent for the thread may not have been clear, plus, I am on vacation for a couple weeks and since we are not going off on a trip I have allll this time to type! Man are you all in trouble! I am hoping others might chime in with positive thoughts on how we all might make this next season even better...So...

I guess I will get the ball rolling. (Put up or Shut up right?)

I have been approached to serve as AX chair and while I am tempted I am also pulled as I know with church on Sundays there will simply be events I cannot make so I hesitate to step up because I know I can't commit fully. Plus, with us living in Murrieta, we start ALL SD events with an hour+ drive so the logistics of the truck, trailer, track setting, etc is compounded. Maybe co-chair? I don't know. I also must admit that there is a slight hesitation simply due to the actual labor involved lol. Initial track setting with just 3-4 people is HARD! (eeeek I am sounding lazy) It would be great to have 6-10 folks out there as it would fly up then...but there I go talking like a "chair" (run Mark RUUUuun) lol
THEN...I have noticed, that on the day of the event, it really is a HIGH stress job with a tendency for "arm chair quarterbacking" from folks at times. (not being critical, just commenting on what I have seen) I would hope that I would handle it with the grace that our current chairs do, but confess that I might be tempted to say "If you would like to chair this event come get the radio. I'll just drive." lol (I knowI know...not very "pastoral" ) While this may happen in other areas of the club, AX chair assistant and Starter have been my only posts so that’s all I can speak to.

The idea of working with the New Member Liaison is of interest and really fits into my skill set.

I really enjoyed designing the track and plan on submitting more.

I wonder how I might encourage the folks who are mainly "attendees" at the AX's to grab a job?

I enjoyed presenting the AX awards at the end the other day and would be open to more emcee work at various events. (Public speaking is part of my profession after all, so I might as well use it.)

Kari and I really would like to attend more of the socials.

So, there are a few of my possible goals.
