SGV / GPX November AX questions

Hola gang,

I am toying with the idea of heading up to the Pomona Fairgrounds event. Unfortunately our sister regions don't have forums on their sites (that I could find) so I am posting my questions here, plus maybe someone else wants to know too. :-)

Any idea how many run groups and laps are in store? I would think that the course is fairly set, might someone have a link? What are your experiences there? The Start time?

I did write them directly as well.

M

If you are talking about the Nov 20-21 AX/DE in Pomona I can answer some questions. This used to be an actual race track and the DE will also use the tunnel for those familiar with the old track. The surface is excellent, lots of room and when i was at the last ax there, pretty well run by Skip Carter and group. No corner working is always a crowd pleaser and the AX is $65, the DE on Sunday is $105.00 both for $150.

Autocross 1.5 mile 2+ minute course
Drivers Ed: 2 mile road course using historic tunnel
Both Autocross & DE are Entry Level Event
— no special equipment needed for stock classes
Helmets required (Snell SA or M 2000 & 2005)H
Helmets available for rent or purchase

Hope this helps

Hi Mark,
During the DE you will get tons of track time on a very smooth, tire friendly track :D . All asphalt runoff areas so no John Deere moments out in the dirt. Skip won't know how many run groups until he has a final car count but I expect maybe 80 cars, 4 run groups, 5 -20 minute sessions. 6 sessions if everybody behaves and time permits. There will probably be lots of novices in the green run group so an experienced PCA-SDR track record holder could probably move up to Blue group.

Thanks both of you for the input!

I would only be coming up for the AX as I have church on Sunday. So the questions were mainly regarding that. (sorry I should have made it clear lol) At our last AX I was instructing and ran in the RED run group to accomadate my student. Boy did I feel like a little fish in a BIG pond

Ooooh! Ok. The AX will be an all day event with lap count similar to events at the Q. Run groups determined by car count. Long 2 minute+ laps on a fairly fast course similar to the one run last time there.
