Hola all,

My pads are fine for this weekend, but I thought...Hmmm, it woudnt hurt to have a set with me. I currently have the RS-4 compound and they work great. Does anyplace in San Diego, Riveride, San Berdo carry them?

On another note...during my search for them I found some...very bad reviews of them. Should I be looking at another brand?

Thanks,
Mark

Mark,
A LOT of us use Porterfields in our cars, and we don't own stock in the company!
Every one is a compromise. You use what works best for you. I tried many and asked a lot of SDR people what they used and why. I can tell you that R4S for AX and street and R4 for track work great, and are a lot better than the others I tried. Normal 944's (and 924S) don't need or want the most aggressive compound in the world (too easy to lock up). On my Turbo, I use Pagid Yellow because it NEEDS an aggressive pad that can take the heat and still last on a track. :surr:
There are a few new ones that may be better. Porterfield themselves sell several brands. I don't want to waste time looking for better ones when I don't have a problem. If you do, then you can tell me when you have found a better one for the price.

You have a PM on where to get them.
:burnout:

Thanks Chuck,

I do like the non-agressive nature of the RS4's but was just wondering. I am not seeing that PM...but look forward to it :beerchug:

See you at Streets!

Mark,
Try www.livermoreperformance.com
I've ordered from them, fast and a little less than the Porerfield site.

just go to the source: Porterfield Enterprises is in Orange County

(20% discount for POC and NASA members on Porterfield, smaller discount on Hawk, Performance Friction, Raybestos)

Timely thread as the Hawk Blues that I ran on the spec car this weekend had too much bite for my liking and I was locking up the rears all weekend long. Recommended by Chuck to go to the R4 Porterfields. I just called the OC office for Porterfield and inquired about the discount. PCA and POC have a 15% discount not 20%. Still a good deal.

I've been buying pads directly from Porterfield for 5+ years and have never had anything but excellent service. Tell them what you are looking for and why and they will very openly point you to a pad. I've personally run R-4S (AX) and R-4 (TT), but currently am running a Raybestos race compound which was recommended by them. If you are looking for options, take a look at the Raybestos racing compounds as there are quite a few choices that can be mix and matched.

Mark,
You can get the Porterfield R4's from Steve at C2 Motorsports here in San Diego. Besides being a very friendly and helpful fellow he is also an advertiser in the Witness. I believe in supporting those that support us. When I got mine from him I think his price was very competitive.
