I am sure many of you remember the McLaughlin's and their red 944. Bob was one of the nicest people you could meet and very active with the club. A few years ago they moved to the Nevada area to be closer to their daughter, Kelly, and became very active with that region of PCA. Unfortunately, I just received an email from Bob, that his wife passed away last Friday. I have created a memorial blog for him so people can leave thoughts and wishes. If you remember Bob, please send him your wishes at www.kathyorrmclaughlin.com

That's tragic news. Kathy was a really great person and so supportive of the club. My heart-felt condolences to Bob and family.

As nice people go, Bob is certainly at the top of the list. He was my first instructor at my first AX. His words of encouragement helped me to appreciate the Club in ways I never had before. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Bob and his family.

This is so true--Bob has an aura of calmness, honesty, and kindness that is immediately apparent to everyone he meets. I hope he and his family can find peace in the midst of such a tragic loss.

Such heartache! :( Kathy was a wonderful woman.

She loved books... I can remember a few board meetings at their home, also known as the big "Library"

Kathy and her husband Bob took the time to mentor a foster child and welcomed that young man into their home and into their immediate family. They also brought him to many events of the club. All of PCASDR embraced that young man as one of its own.

Kathy also helped set up a library at Alta Vista Academy- a school for Foster Teens that are considered "at risk" She did this many times with many programs in San Diego that were in need.

My heart goes out to Bob. I am comforted knowing that he is close to his daughter and grandchild. Kathy's spirit is alive within the love of that very special family.

My deepest sympathy ~ Katina Rondeau

Thanks to everyone for posting such wonderful comments. Kathy and I loved being in the San Diego Region. We enjoyed visiting with friends at all of the events, including: hosting board meetings, and other activities at our home, or as some appropriately called it, "The library." I truly miss interacting with everyone at autocrosses, time trials, board meetings, last Tuesday Socials, and all of the other events.
You might be interested to know that Kathy had three 10' by 20' storage units here filled approximately seven feet high with books. It was her intent to donate them to the Friends of the Library group, of which she was a board member. My son-in-law and I just completed moving the books to the Friends group. The donation was so large that the Friends group contacted the morning TV news to record the donation.... Kathy would be pleased.
Best personal regards to everyone.

Wow, this is a shock and I am really sorry to hear about Kathy's death Bob.

It seems like only yesterday Kathy was handing out Coke and pizza as we worked on the parade technical quiz at your house.

Thanks, Bob! Kathy always enjoyed hosting our "Tech Quiz gatherings." She enjoyed the enthusiasm all of us had for the task, as well as our enjoyment working together. She is truly missed!
