No Videos?

We're over a week out from the CFoS ... and still no videos for braggin' rights? Really? Must be a "busy economic recovery, no time for editing" time of year.

Surely Grosekemper/Phillips, or Corwin, or Paul Y., or ??? Surely there must be some good juice out there on a Sandisk just collecting dust.

Us video junkies need a fix. :banghead: I know Rondeau has a video or two hiding somewhere. Maybe he's just pouting 'cause Rick Sylvestri and Kris Scheussler tussled with him so aggressively?

Beaula? (Tap, tap...) Is this thing on?

Okay.

I have three videos from 2011 (plus an old one from 2005 in REAL rain). Three different cool camera perspectives too (Inside, Topside, ChinSide)

Problem is, you have to go to the TEAM website to view them (go the Video section, and select "Cal Speedway" from the tracks on the left).

http://www.deadpetsracing.com/index.html

You can see all bout our team whilst there.

Mr. Young , how the H did you do a 1:53? Did you simply use bubble gum for tires? :beerchug:

It's Pauls shoe choice that is the key...
He wears ice skates to dance on the absolute edge of the envelope...

That was some nice driving by Mr Young.

Hey, DQ and Ethan ran in the mid 1:52s, and Jim duncan was 1:50.something that qual session. Many San Deigo folks did really
well, but Peter Czajkowski was probably the star of the Blue Group - very fast and smart driving in his first ever Club Race! :beerchug:

While mine was a good time, there was more. I saw "only" 133mph before slowing for turns 1 & 2, and 117mph after the bridge.
On a colder Friday session, those were 136 and 119. Not bad for just 201 RWHP!

Otto helped with the line through 1 & 2 (later, later, later apex), but Butch was a bit more skittery than I'd like there (need more wing).
The infield section is where Butch really shines - light and nimble, with suspension perfectly set up (finally!). I'd often catch the faster
cars before entering the Oval. And, I could have run even faster tires than my usual Hoosier R-6s, but maybe another time...

Oh, and as you can imagine, the lens shield on the video camera looked like the surface at Holtville after I ran it down low on the splitter! :surr:

Ok, here is the video of my fastest lap. Set YouTube to 720P resolution for best quality.

I have a lot of disclaimers, because it's my first real drive in like five years, and I forgot my gloves, and made some mistakes. So please cut some slack on that.

A couple extra notes:

1) I had like half dozen people comment that my car sounds good from the outside. I really appreciate all those compliments although I can't hear the sound except on the inside. Ed Hanson's made me an exhaust tip that looks something like a whistle. Might have something to do with it :) I am attaching a photo.

2) I was getting a little understeer on the slow corners 3 and 9, but it was with 230 width front tires. I still don't understand how such skinny things work at all.

3) The shimmering reflections on the helmet in the start/finish straight are from the Lexan windshield buffeting. First time that happened, it scared the crap out of me.

4) No lifting in 1 and 2 !!

5) John Payne's motor is awesome!

O.K., here you go (features some of the usual suspects). Some errors, too loose in some key turns, trying some weird lines, etc., but no engine blow-ups  :

p.s. Sorry about the occasional vibration but the camera was actually coming loose...

Had the vid set up for the last timed session BUT car had a funny metal sound so.....
Ran DQ's car for a 2:02 in CC6 ;)
Did a 1:58.2 in mine flat in 1 & 2 w/V710's in the last practice session and was hoping for a 1:57 something but couldn't run her like that.
Great fun with all
Now to get her up and runnin for Chuckwalla, Cheers

Aaaaah, that's better. Very nice videos from those who posted. Rick; whadup with your car?? Hope it's okay.

Fontana appears to carry on it consumption of cars and their parts. I returned home to a funny rattle coming from my SS B&B muffler (supposedly "lifetime" built .... yeah, right.). Closer inspection revealed cracks in the engine-side of the outer sheet metal that make it irreparable. :banghead: So, I'll have a slightly different "tone of voice" the next time I'm out and about. Should sound something like a cross between American Iron and a Mazda RX-7. :surr:

Thanks again for all the videos, guys! Awesome stuff.

OK, here is my video, but first the disclaimers.

Video was taken during the first run session on Friday morning in the yellow TT group. First 2 laps are under yellow, no passing. This was my first time on the Roval, although I have driven the infield course before.

Video was taken from my iPhone (Verizon) mounted inside on the bottom of the windshield. The bright clouds make the contrast screw up at times.

I did not download the video to my computer, but uploaded it directly to youtube from my iPhone (nice feature) although it is not too high definision. If I had a WiFi connection when uploading I could have sent it higher def.

My best lap time during this session was 2:03, a stock 996 shod with Nitto NT-01's, entering turn one at 139 mph accorting to gps. Later in the day (I only drove on Friday) I got down to 1:58 when Greg Phillips and I were chasing each other. Next time I should have Harry's Laptimer figured out and have overlay data on video.
