In keeping with the Easter Bunny theme at the Autocross, not only will we have a Choco Bunny shaped track, not only will we have our regular classes, TTOD, BRI, etc… there will be special Awards as well!
We will have Tortoise and Hare Awards for various classes.
I am sure you are aware of the story, but just in case, the Tortoise beat the Hare in a race by his consistency rather than sporadic bursts of speed. I had the idea after last year’s PDS. We teach consistency, finding the line, smoothness, etc. Then at our AX’s, we award one good lap, even if the others were a mess. Though I have no desire to make overall changes to our exciting and enjoyable events I wondered if we might somehow highlight consistency and quickness, thus the Tortoise and Hare Awards. If people like it, who knows? We may do it again. Thank you Tom Brown for getting our computer program to give us the info quickly!
Here are the (current) Rules:
1. The Class must have more than one competitor. In order to have a T & H…there needs to be at least one of each. Right? (This could change if we do it again, but for now we are going this way.)
2. Your T & H time will be determined by your THREE timed laps. You must complete all THREE to be in the running.
3. A DNF in any of your three timed laps will eliminate you from the T & H competition for your class. “Napping under the tree” after going really fast will cost you Mr. Hare.
To be Clear…the regular rewards will still be given.
We have already concluded The Coloring Contest and the winner by a close vote of the forum readership was Gary Burch. He will receive his special handmade Award. Gary…make sure you attend!
