May Track Request

The Easter Bunny track was awesome, definitely the fastest I have gone at Qualcomm. The entire track was very well laid out, nothing felt too tight. For me the hairiest part was the last straight section: third gear, flat out, with camber changes! Very very fun!

If there are no pre-existing plans for the next Autocross I thought it would be fun to re-try the Halloween track, or some variation of it. Specifically the 360 Jack-O-Lantern. If I remember correctly the diameter was a little too small last time and the track started to break up so the Jack-O-Lantern was taken down early. I thought the idea was really fun and so long as the 360 is right by the starting line there is no way it could be a safety concern. We could probably get away with very few cones there, maybe just one big cone in the middle of a large circle so that you HAVE to go around the cone, but have your choice of line doing it within the spacial constraints.
I drew a little picture, but I don't know how to post it... can I e-mail it so someone?

If you look back a page or 2 Mark posted the track template for the Qualcomm.

Repeating a track with a 4 - 6 event interval seems fair, so there is not too much of an advantage if someone missed it the first time.

Even if we tried to make it the same it would be different, Due to asphalt breakup problems :banghead:
I vote for the January track

A great deal of effort goes into setting up these tracks. Several of us spent a few hours setting up the last track Friday afternoon. There was a lot of "trial and error" involved to make the bunny rabbit fun and safe. It also gave those of us present a "preview" of the course.

Ah! So you are saying that if you come down and help set up the track on Friday, you can get a "preview" of the track for Saturday? 8)
Hint, hint, nudge, nudge...

I have been working on the map all morning and just finished it. Its been sent to the various chairs to see if any glaring concerns arise, though I dont think they will as I am pretty careful. If all goes as I hope it will be fast in two large areas, technical in many and challenging everywhere.

It is a bit of a radical design but I believe its fully workable....

Stay tuned!

If anyone wishes to try their hand at designing a map, there is a link to a blank template on the "forms" page of the website. Draft something up then send it to me for feedback.

Kim C. Yes, that is exactly what he means... anyone who comes to help set up the track gains great insight into it and is able to fully preview things. Which is my mind is pretty good incentive to come to the may Track Setting Party...that and if we are lucky a sponsor takes us to dinner! :beerchug:
