There was a young fellow with a safety vest and a big telephoto lens at corner 10 when I did my corner work. He said he was a friend of a member and was asked to shoot.

I believe you are talking about Randy Wells. He is one of the big contributors to Excellence Magazine and was there that weekend shooting some club members' cars...not AX cars though unfortunately. Anyway, he was co-driving my friend/student Nick's car and took some shots at the end of the day of Nick and myself. Since my rear tires were toast but still had some rubber for timed runs I asked him if he wouldn't mind taking some cool pictures of me hanging the *** out a bit on the last two corners. I hear he got some SWEET shots
I guess the day wasn't a total bust after all! I thought I did see another photographer out there around the same time but could have been mistaken.
