Just to be sure everyone is awake.
Weight rules proposal

A proposal for 2012 would be to utilize the same formula for basepoints to determine your weight modification points.

Instead of using the PCNA (or PCR) weight, you would use your own (lower) weight in the equation and the difference between this number and your model's basepoints would be your modification points.

This would solve several issues people have brought up. Lowering your weight 200# in a 912 has a much greater impact on performance than the same 200# in a 928 or 996.

I think we now have it too complicated by allowing you to put back your tools, spare, fluids, etc. Very hard to enforce or measure well
I think your weight should be with a full tank of gasoline and ready to go to the track.

Instead of the free 50#, I would look at not having to take points until you reached 10 and then rounding down for each 10 point gap.
This would allow some scale error without affecting points too much.
Anyone who believes their weight is less than the listed weight for their model will need to give the weight they believe the car weighs for classification purposes
Anyone who has a race or aftermarket seat will need to give their weight for classification purposes.

Engine swap rules proposal-

Same theory for stock engine swaps.
Your penalty points would be the difference between your points with stock engine and the points calculated with new engine's horsepower and power to weight ratio.

I submitted comments on July 6th. I think they get posted in large batches instead of daily updates. Looking forward to 2012 rules. 8)
