So is the first section a series of gates to drive through? How wide will they be? Looks different and interesting!

This looks like the open gates at the beginning could be a problem trying to police the cones and stay safe. But I could be wrong . :surr:

I took the design idea from watching the video of the AX event at the PCA National Parade this year. I am told they almost always use this method and seem to work it somehow, so I am hoping we can too. :-) With the next Parade being in Utah many of us will be scooting up, so we might want to get used to it. It really is no different than a series of esses that we regularly run through there. In fact with less cones (tons less) hopefully it will be easier to police? (crosses fingers) Steve I must have missed you when I sent it out to the chairs for pre-suggestions/problem spot checks. sorry :(

Leigh,

Yep a series of gates. They will be the normal course width so no hip bumping your way through them will be necessary. Except for Jerry, he can bump all the cones he wants, especially in timed runs!

Though you don't see it on the Pumpkin, there will be a course setting surprise there as well!

Cheers!

I know I don't AX enough any more to get a vote and will be at the Petit Le Mans for this, but we have used the gates before and they work fine except they give too too many options for the drivers and they can completely lose the course so keep corner workers far away!

The area that would worry me is the pumpkin. A 270 degree turn is going to DESTROY left side tires. Very cute idea of driving the shapes, but not sure it makes for a good track.

There will be a "suggested line" for the gates, hopefully that will help. The 240 deg has had comments ranging from yours to "that will be great throttle steering practice!", so the reviews admittedly are mixed. However with the state of the asphalt the turn is really more of a "we will give this a shot" and adjust as needed. My guess is that it will morph into a "jog left, slight right, right, right, left, left," sorta-type-thingy. Or maybe we can just turn it into the next dance craze! Jog left...now right...and right again..."

I like the idea of a theme for an AX. I just hope translating it to a track shape doesn't help me break another wheel bearing or something else in the car. I hope there will be lots of candy too! hint hint

Love the looks of the course, I'm sure after it's laid down and driven, some of the shapes will change to make it flow nicely. Those gate turns can be really a lot of fun. OCR uses them frequently when I've been up there running and they've often been one of the more fun sections. Speaking of laying down the course...I'm begging you guys, PLEASE make it wider than last time!!!! I felt like someone was playing a joke on us and tied in a extra knot on the roping rope :banghead:

Oh, and that pumpkin turn...it has my name all over it! You guys know how I like to slide through turns like that

Thanks for all the effort Mark and Jerry!

I think we are giving pumpkins a bad rap.
A slow start with 2 overly tight/long right and left turns? :|
I'll  bring my pitchfork.

I'll have to agree with Jad on this. Cute picture , not necessarily good layout. It's seems very short , again we are not using the top far right area. the gates are used a lot at OCR tracks and you can lose the track pretty easily. Also you guys Have something against 3 cone slaloms? :banghead:

Oh mike? With that layout...you're gonna get worked! :beerchug:
