The list below is NOT Board approved yet. That said, to assist drivers with planning we are posting the dates we have been offered by the various tracks for 2012. We again plan to offer the Season Pass program to reward drivers that commit to participating in the vast majority of our events during 2012. We hope you will join us.

Jan 7-8 Streets of Willow DE & TT

Jan 28-29 Chuckwalla (clockwise) DE & TT

Mar 9 Auto Club Speedway Infield DE

Apr 20-22 California Festival of Speed (Auto Club Speedway Roval) TT & Club Race

May 19-20 Chuckwalla (counterclockwise) DE & TT

Sep 22-23 Willow Springs 2.5 mile TT

Oct 12 Auto Club Speedway Infield DE

I think this might be the same weekend as the Coronado Speed Festival for 2012? If so, is it possible to get some other date that doesn't conflict with it?

You are correct, Russell. We just checked with the Fleet Week group. We'll need another date for Willow Springs.

Two dates in January seems a little busy for that time of year. I know that I could do one or the other, but not both. If I had to choose, it would be Chuckwalla. Streets seems better as a single day addition to a Big Willow weekend.

I agree with Mark on all aspects.

The Coronado event could be a huge member building event for the club if the board agreed to protect the date.
Afaik schedule conficts like these have already been approved by the board so just live with it. :banghead:

Our time-trial chairs have attempted to find an alternate date for the event at Willow Springs, but unfortunately there are no other weekend dates available and they have been unable to find another club that is willing to trade dates with us. It appears that the choices facing the Board will be to either cancel one of the two events on Sept. 22-23, or to live with the conflict. Wish there were some other option. Carl

What about DE schools? Or can I show up to any of these and get an instructor? I need more driving in my life. :D

As you can see, 5 of the 8 dates are DEs. Register as a student and you'll get an instructor. It's all good...

Did Spring Mtn get too expensive or something? It sure was a fun track and it would be great to go again.

The dates in the first post in this thread are now official, so please mark your calendars.

You'll be pleased to know that we are planning to lower prices for 2012 as a result of the excellent participation we had in 2011. Please keep attending!

Correcting an earlier post, 6 of the 8 dates are, or are scheduled to include, DEs. As always, the allocation of run groups at events is a function of demand.

The process of attaining track dates is difficult. There are only so many event-capable weekends in a year. We will not accept dates for consecutive events that are any closer than 3 weeks apart. There is no coordination among the various tracks to divide up dates in an orderly way, nor is there any cooperation among the clubs that use them to make win-win schedules. As a result, we have events that are closer together than we'd like (though in cool weather months, which is valuable) and events on acceptable, but busy weekends that we'd rather have on other dates. I'd still suggest we are fortunate to have an excellent, exciting schedule for 2012.

Spring Mountain is no longer on our calendar primarily because the Club was losing money when we ran there. Of the tracks in our general area it's the furthest away which clearly affected the number of drivers that were willing to travel there, despite the fact that it's a great course. Insurance issues having to do with the fact that the track is a private motorsports club only complicated the situation. If in the future enough demand clearly exists to rent the track without losing money and we can work out insurance issues with track management we'd be more than happy to add it back to the schedule. With a full schedule for 2012, however, the earliest that could potentially occur is 2013.
