PCA SDR

It started out as a causal thought - hmm I could use a dedicated track car. Thanks to PCA, I was having a blast throughout the TT season. Well you know how it goes. The thought quickly turned into some web searches, then some phone calls, then some driving around kicking tires, even flying in my case. Before long I have a 911 in my garage!

The car is a 75 911S, but looks nothing like one. More like a 993. Probably none of the original parts remain except for the windshield and the tub. Everything else is racing stuff. I spent months checking every component, researching what it does and who makes it. It's been a fascinating experience. Last night I tried classifying the car following the zone8 rules. The mod points are off the roof LOL I think I'm better off starting with CC16 and save the headaches from going through the rules Regardless I'm excited to be driving a 911 again. Can't wait till the next season.

Wow! That looks like a lot of track car Fred. Congratulations! Going on a Smurf hunt? I guess you wont be playing with us lowly street Boxsters in orange group anymore.

Congrats, Fred! Is that the Matt Lowrence-built car from N.Cal that was for sale on Pelican Parts earlier this year? Quite an impressive specification list it had, and Matt is a very well-respected tuner up in those parts. Should be a hoot to drive.

With all the mods, it probably is in CC16 if it is that car, and is as powerful and light as was advertised (350 HP and 1975 lbs.) and you run it on slicks.

Quite a handful!

Sweet lord Fred...when you told me you got a 911 track car you forgot to mention it was a GT3 class car! I'm really happy for you, a cool car like this couldn't have gone to a nicer guy!

P.S...can I call first right of refusal if you ever sell it???

@Tom, yes this is the Matt Lowrance car from NorCal. Apparently he's got quite a number of followers. I spoke with a number of owners who have cars built by Matt. They all speak highly of him, and their cars all look similar. I even met Matt myself at the track. Everyone was really friendly. I'm not sure about the stated hp and weight. It didn't feel super fast when I drove it, but then I was just getting acquainted. Would love to put it on a dyno and scale to see. From first experience, I have to say the car is surprisingly "drivable".

@Adam, I had no idea either I had some criteria in mind when looking for a car, like safety, data acquisition, adjustable suspension. This car far exceeds what I'm looking for and at a very attractive price. I figure it'll give me many years of learning. Just need to keep the revs down to make the motor lasts

Yes, he has quite a reputation in Zone 7, I believe. A number of years ago, John Lusti bought a sweet little vintage 911 from the bay area built by Matt and ran it in a few of our events. It was a '72, I think, with a custom 3.6L transplant. It was quick.
