I wanted to put out a BIG thank you to everyone who showed up to help at the Lot Patching event on Saturday. The PCA had about 10 stalwart folks who gave their all! Two other clubs came to work as well, one with just a few people and another with about 20! So here are the standings.

"Big turn out Club" (we will call them). Put down 56 bags of concrete by 12pm a valiant effort and well done.

On the other hand....

PCA put down 160 bags of concrete and worked just two hours longer. :

To give some perspective, if you factor the removal of the bad material, loading of the concrete sacks, mixing it, then moving it to the patch holes the total hits right at 40,000 pounds of lifting. GREAT JOB guys! I guess we should have taken pictures, but as you can see, we were kinda busy. :roflmao:

Thanks again for all your efforts!

That's great, Mark, and reflects really well on our club. :D I've heard reports from my brother and Jim Hicks as well. I didn't take part in this year's "party", but did the last 2 years with multiple trips to Home depot and Lowes. Hopefully, our playground will remain useable for years. Our club's future is tied, to a large extent, on staging events at the stadium.
Good on all you people who helped!
Tim

:banghead: Man, there are a lot of potholes in the west lot! .... :banghead: and unfortunately there still are. We ended up mixing 160 bags and poured about 650 sf! My back is talking big time to me today. I stepped off one of our patches and it ended up about NINETY feet long!

Since we poured so much this time I did the math/cost and I will look into having a concrete truck deliver the concrete next time! Should save $$, time and backaches! :D I'll email the other clubs and see if we can't have another patching day in a few months.

Thank you  Mark Bray, Andrew Simmons, Mark Bastain, Tony Comeau, Bob Hallett, Robbie Hallett, Phil Strong, David Polk, W.T. (Bill) Wong and Jim Hicks. (cool, two X drivers helped out)

Jim, thanks for volunteering your truck to pick up the concrete. We made 4 trips with your truck. I was at Home Depot today and as I walked up the two employees that helped us load your truck - ran and hid! (just kidding).

If there were a few extra $$...
Maybe a couple day workers from in front of home depot could do the heavy lifting?
thanks for all your efforts...

Mike - As Jim and I kept making more trips to Home Depot we sure did start thinking about hiring the Home Depot day workers! But instead we used the $$ for more concrete.

Next time we will get a cement truck to do the mixing and pouring. We can have the BMW club go in on the cement truck cost. Only thing we will need to lift are the asphalt chunks we break out. 8)
