At least we don't have to guess what you thought of the awards :banghead:

But I think all that needed to be said was that you would have liked to have the event and year on the award and that you have some ideas for next year's awards and would like to help.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Using Parade as an example, I have some that were extraordinary (SD 2007 thanks Monique) and some that I am not as thrilled with (Tampa)

I think there are more constructive ways to get the outcome you are looking for. :surr:

I wrote the date on mine with a paint pen and drove a nail through one of the holes. It hangs proudly in my office. Inevitably some one will ask "whats AP?" I tell them it stands for Armor Piercing

I know from experience how much work it takes to plan a large event as well as order all the trophies to be given out at the event. It is a tough job, and it has to stay within a budget. It is a great idea to have someone else help with this task.

This year I was excited to receive one of the machined trophies similar to what had been given out in the last few years since I hadn’t earned one. I like the black ,metal Trophy. Yes, it would have been ideal to have the event and year on them, but sometimes things get overlooked when people are so busy planning the rest of the event.

However, I do understand that for many people, Trophies are very important! And as a club, we can’t lose sight of recognizing people for their achievements, volunteerism and support of the club. Some years past, a whole group of people did not even bother to get their trophy and the Chair ended up throwing out a bunch of them. So, the following year all that was given out was a homemade, framed photo of the award winner. Boy, there was almost a mutiny that year. The next year, people had to reply if they wanted a trophy, and we had killer trophies that year.

In addition, since the club is doing a bit better financially, the trophy budget may need to be increased to give us more options of Trophy styles and sizes.

Chris, that is a good idea to hang the trophy on the wall!

All of us at our table really liked the AX trophies. The machining and lettering were great. A base to set them on would be nice, but that is minor.
Year? What year? I thought this one was perpetual. :burnout:

I gave no input to the design of the trophies and personally love the design. I didn't even consider that my name wasn't on it, perhaps having received so few trophies in my lifetime, I was simply happy to get one. Lol.

For display the valve cover sits nicely on my counter, and the brake disk will either hang on a nail or be placed on a holder for decorative plates, perhaps a nice wooden one.

Keith I do appreciate your view and thank you for volunteering to assist when we order then next.

Yes, but we don't know for what and which year :-) Joke aside, it's true it would have been nicer with a stand, championship event and year. But I like it better than a wood plaque or a lump of coal. :roflmao:

Thanks to the volunteers who care enough to make the effort to make it happen. Without the them, there is nothing. And, thanks to members like Keith who care enough to hold our efforts to a higher standard  (style notwithstanding  ).

We need them all... :!:

Keith, as much as I like you and appreciate all that you have done and continue to do for this club...you're out of line on this one. The forum is a great sounding board...not a sod off board, which is exactly what comments like yours are likely to do to the kind volunteers who helped put on a very enjoyable awards dinner (with very cool awards I might add!)

Panties + bunch = Keith :surr:

Why earn your trophy when you can buy your own like Dave Quinel does every year? :burnout:

Hey Keith, I can appreciate that you had something more traditional in mind as a trophy. Different strokes for different folks and tastes do vary. We are all entitled to an opinion on this even though some of us step well outside the "polite conversation" box once in a while. Tellya what... If you decide to compete in the 2012 Zone 8 Time Trials and win a trophy, I'll make sure it has your name, year, event, finish position, and class on the plaque. Two warnings though:

1. You will have to drive well enough to EARN IT. :P
2. You just might get your car dirty in the process.

See ya in the grid.

I didn't get an AX trophy, but thought they were the coolest coasters I have ever seen.
I did get a TT 911 valve cover trophy and it is proudly displayed next to my very coolest ever trophy of my SD Parade AX glass trophy.
This year’s trophy is my second favorite ever.
It is difficult after so many years of trophies to come up with something other than a cheap plastic little league trophy that isn't too far off the mark of what a trophy should look like.

Everyone I talked to thought they looked awesome and had a very classy high quality look.

Didn't even notice anything was missing from the award, but I try not to be a glass half empty kind of guy, life is just too short.

You might want to look at this really cool Singapore F-1 trophy...
The race, the year, the place, but no driver name

I got my name, class and finishing place, much more identifiable than what poor Sebastian got.
I don't think Sebastian Vettel whined that his name wasn't on the trophy. If it did upset him I am sure that the far more mature 24 year old would have had the tact not to bitch on a public forum of hard working volunteers.
I have easily volunteered hundreds of hours to this club because I love the cars… and most of the people. Having someone publicly condemn volunteers’ efforts is the #1 killer of volunteerism. I know; I have been the target before. And so have you Keith; which makes your post all the worse. It’s about the people not the #&$%*! Trophy!

So in case I was unclear… my extreme disappointment is not with the trophy.
