Autocross for March 17th CANCELLED

Hi there everyone,

The AX chairs have been keeping an eye on the weather reports and due to the conditions that it predicts, we are cancelling the autocross for this weekend. We figure its better to do so now, and not be charged for the use of the lot, than to have a poor showing at the event and loose money for the club.

We hope this causes you no inconvenience.

See you all soon!

Mark
Lead AX Chair

Sounds good to me - I wasn't sure which tires to run to AX in the rain, then drive home to the snow...

Wow this comes as a surprise, as it is the first time as far I can remember or since 2001, that we are canceling an event before even seeing the rain !

In the past we use to make the call the day of after the drivers meeting or before 9am, so we wouldn't get charged by the stadium. Nobody got charged and no points were assigned, but after 9am we got charged for the "Rain Out" event and everybody was awarded 5 points. Also when there were enough drivers wanting stay and drive in the rain for the rest of the day, it was run a fun event.

Oh well, the good thing about this is we can all sleep in this weekend :D

This is indeed kind of an unprecedented move, considering the vagaries of NW weather fronts, but it is a pretty strong storm, and the forecast is for 70% chance of rain on Sat. Nevertheless, I have seen fronts like this stall and not arrive as fast as expected in S. Cal. Oh well, I was just going out to the garage to change tires when I checked my email and found the announcement, so at least I know I don't have to waste time doing that now. I had invited another Nissan Leaf owner to come down and run his EV with us on Sat., so I'll have to let him know now. :(

Yup - the storm fronts always seem to come in later than predicted. Oh well.

 WAIT - now I don't have an excuse to avoid doing the TAXES or the HOUSEWORK!!

Don't tell Gail it has been cancelled! :burnout:

A couple of years ago the December "other car" was held in the rain, and it was the only time I was faster than my son Jeff :D . It rained all day, but the worst part was the corner working without a raincoat!

We did this once and we spent the nice clear Sunday autocross day defending the weather men and justifying our call. It was all Dan's fault, I said it then and I say it now...

Hope it works out for you guys

Pretty wet outside when I woke up this morning. Looks like vindication for the NWS forecast and the AX chairs' call to cancel the event.
I'm glad I'm not standing in the lot at the Q trying to tech cars right now.

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE, WELL ONCE AGAIN OUR FEARLESS LEADERS HAVE MADE THE CORRECT CALL!!!!!! BY MAKING THE CALL EARLY IN THE WEEK WE WERE ABLE TO ALSO SAVE POTTIE,ICE, AND LUNCH TRUCK MONEY. AND REGISTRATION CAN SAVE THEIR INFORMATION FOR THE NEXT EVENT.WE GET FEW ENOUGH VOLUNTEERS AS IT IS TO PICK UP THE TRACK I CAN'T IMAGINE HOW MANY WOULD STAY IN THE RAIN.JUST MY $.02 :banghead:

Sure We could'a of Run

But according to the Prime Directive "ALL EVENTS MUST AT LEAST BREAK EVEN"
We Would have to cut the Track down due to a shortage of corner workers :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
Many corner workers would catch a sickness :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
And It would of been a 5 point Event :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
