A MORE interesting thread...

Postby David J Marguglio on Tue Feb 08, 2005 3:18 pm

Whomever named that other thread (“Interesting thread about…”) obviously has a different definition of interesting. How about something more immediately interesting? Like this weekends autocross! How about a bit of fighting and good ole fashion smack talk about that? Here are some subjects; talk amongst yourselves: Will Steve bring that Frankensteined, dumpster-diving, monster-garaged-914 or will he be in something sweet (and slower)? What will those white-collared terrorists known as “KP” do to sabotage Bill I’s (hereinafter “Billeye”) 968? Speaking of 964’s, will Brand settle down and start driving to his ability (behind me damn it!)? You too Martin, were you not intimidated by my autosig? Apropos nothing at all, but the rumor is that Burl has run out of ways to spend money upgrading his RSA and will soon 1035 exchange it into a nice little beach house. So will that f#@$*! GT2 be on loan again or has JGW taken his football and gone to more challenging pastures (like the Runoffs)? How about Jackie C; will she win again in her second drive? Has David G. finally put a tranny together that will hold up to that power? Did Kim really deserve to be near the top of the BRI or was Kary just giving him preferential treatment because they both have girls’ names? Okay, I have done enough.

I'll bite. NS/S
Jon and Ted Witte have a 4 second difference driving the same car, 996 C2, in NSS. I'd be the first to laugh at a dad getting his tail whupped by his son but the same son scorched me by 3 seconds. I think this weekend I might have to bite into that time a little this Saturday. Besides, with promised cloudy weather I won't be staring into the sun on my timed laps.

Tawfik, you don't mind if I check those tires do ya? Putting the better part of 3 seconds on the next best group of drivers speaks highly of your skill and talent. Maybe moving up to NS will better test your ability facing off against my buddy Chuck. Any other suspension upgrades under the hood my friend? Inquiring minds want to know? You would have bested the NS class with your time and even Glen in NP would be running scared.

Steve, Charlie and Kevin I'd like to say that "were just driving different cars" but if Jon can do it (and I did look at the 280 streets on his car) I guess that classification does work. So we will see who gets knocked off the podium this weekend.

HEY - all I have to do to win the BRI is just beat Jame G-W (in an 700 HP GT2) and Billeye (in that Concours stock [yeah, right!] 968)! That statue is MINE next time!
I hope Bill's keeping it in good shape for me - he is having Tami clean it with a toothbrush, just like his car, right?

Wait 'til I get my hands on it - am I going to polish that dolphin!!!

Ok, now that you can't get that image out of your heads, that ought to throw some of you off your games Saturday.

Ok, I'll bite.

So when is someone going to call Burl on his car weight and mods? That car is definitely in the wrong class!

I call him on that every day, only now he has Mark and John singing the same tune. There might be a conflict of interest there; I prescribe a Chinese wall.

Oh, and one more that I forgot in my previous post...

Is anyone else getting tired of Tweed sandbagging in what is so obviously a 993 with early 70's body work. Can you say retro?

That's just not right...

Is David ever going to get some real tires before my wife beats him?
Are we ever going to see the AM gang again?

Bryan, you are lucky they re-classified this year or you would be 5 or 6 seconds behind last years leaders in MSS.......

Keep up the good work.......The Witte's are fast because of their instuctor at the driving school.........He warned us about them this year!

See you sat!

You let me bring down my 1989 Civic and a $3,500 car will be doing some damage:-) Stock motor with headers, stock cat, interior, etc. Just suspension mods and 205/50/15s. My bet would be that it would be right there with that 968...

Anyway, since I enjoy driving the GT2, I will just have fun in it and run the Civic on Sunday. I could drive my Boxster S, but it is bone stock and I am waiting for Kumho to get the 245/35/18 710s done. Maybe I will run that occassionally once the tires come around. Still, hard to resist the GT2 and/or GT3.

I've seen that Civic run before and I want nothing to do with it! :burnout: You can hand out some serious humble pie with that car.

Ah Ha!! But I'd also point out that the LSS class seemed to hold their own very well vs. the "sport" MSS class.

In regards to NS/S, to wit, I will wile the Witte's and their average score together shall be my small ambition. How far will young Jon be able to carry his father on his back? :)

James G., you can buy a lot of style with the other $96500 can't you? My guess is that you put all of that savings into the GT2. I will admit that the GT 2 was pretty sweet the other day.

Regarding the $3500 Honda, well that's just about right isn't it. I've owned 4 of them and they've been great cars. But I always wanted a 911, and while my first civic hatchback was sweet (way back in the '70's), it just doesn't push my buttons like the 996 does.

(so I guess I need to find a use for a lumbering old 2001 996 C2 or figure out the magic "go-go" to get the car tuned... Eh, it's a very pretty and fun street car. Papa Dente has me eyeing the GT3 anyway. SO AFFORDABLE!!)

GT3 one day you will be mine  (the GT2 is way out of reach 160-180k plus Porsche doesn't race GT2's )

KP and KI should be one class, the more we are the better.

For my part I will be silent until the Feb 12. But, I still can't get over Bill's lap time, I should focus and stay calm to win next time.

Dave, you are such an instigator! 1) Got something against girls' names, do ya? 2) Billeye is so far out of reach for me, but what about Tameye? She may be penalized into L class if she keeps that up (there is so much wrong with that sentence). Thanks for mentioning me in with the big boys, I'm honored. If I don't do fairly decent this weekend, the last AX will be considered a fluke and I can hardly let that happen. I'll try to keep my foot on the pedal and out of my mouth.
Til Saturday,

Hate to say "I told you so.......  " And something else to think about: the Witte 996 is a Tiptronic  . Now THAT'S good driving! 8)
