An exciting event with a tire blowing out at 125 mph at the end of my first session on Friday. It also took out the oil lines but thanks to Steve's mechanical work, Ethan's internet searching to find the AN oil line I needed, my car was back running again for Saturday. Steve had also brought out his silver SC and I was able to get run sessions in that car
Thanks to Ethan & Mark providing some cool AC RV space, Cathy Young for lunches and Dan Chambers for motivation
Here are the albums with this year's photos:

Hey Greg,
You need to get someone to drive that car of yours so you can get some on track shots.
First race pictures I have seen without a slew of red and yellow in a long time.
But that silver #97 car sure does look good in action

Greg, the tire looks totally destroyed. Glad that you brought the car back safely.

Thanks for the great pics. They're always a treat after the weekend :beerchug:

Might look even better with a #1 on it.

Excellent pics as always Greg. Thank you!

Hey, did anyone get video of the pyrotechnics show at turn 11-12 on Fri? Maybe not suitable for public viewing? NC-17?
(Note: No people or animals were harmed during this performance.)

That's just frickin' hilarious Jad.

OK- Here are my excuses...
It's a CC09 car not a CC11 car.
3.2L not 3.6L...
I had to run well worn mismatched 245's all the way around.
I missed half of my practice laps.
I couldn't get my/Greg's tire failures out of my head.
My last lap was my fastest lap by almost a half a second.
And we had to drive that car home...

But...
I still can't believe I let Chambers beat me by .04 seconds. (never going to live that one down)
One more lap! I could have gotten a 56 easy with one more lap I am sure of it - crap!
And I am sure that car would be faster with a #1 on it... Just think how many students Mark could terrify right out of the car in the first lap driving the silver bullet!

Steve G got "Chambered" in the timed runs... Ouch!
Join the club Steve. After posting a personal best time Sun. morning that put me in the front of the grid for CC06, I sat around for 5 hours waiting for Timed runs and forgot the track. I left the barn door open and Dan and Mark drove right through it. I could list a bunch of lame excuses but my data logger doesn't lie. I left 1.6s in the braking zones and corner entry speeds. Just a loose spacer behind the steering wheel when it counted. Til next time.

Hey, hey... hey, hey, hey, now!

Come on! Am I that bad that nickin' a couple of great driver's by shear luck (and enough room to stretch a 3.6L's legs) is such a terrible embarrassment? Geeze-Louise! You'd think Steve got beat by Rondeau or something. Don't forget, Steve: you set my car up.

Fact is, I've been watchin' vid's of Patrick Long in an early 911, Steve G., and Mark R.'s videos for some driving techniques. I tried to emulate three of the best drivers I know. I got lucky. I guess doing a little homework paid off.

Wish I could say I was driving like my hair was on fire, but ...

Sure was fun. I'm uploading the practice videos to Youtube as I write this. Stay tuned. 8)

OK- I actually laughed out loud at the hair on fire comment Dan... That's funny. (Has anyone checked Russell's scalp condition?)
You did do some very fine driving in a very nice street car with full interior and comfort. It was great fun chasing you in timed runs.
Really interesting to see how essentially the same car built in two completely different directions ends up with the same lap time. Hmmm...
But that doesn't mean you get a break on the smack talk... it's just too easy and I see no reason to stop after so many years.

Gosh - such interesting comments - but weren't you both just a little behind a stock C4S on Sunday?

Phil

Smack talk? The door's open!!

BTW: thanks for the compliments on my driving. I decided to cut loose (literally) in the infield sections.

Actually, it is a street car. And it has desires on playing with "race cars." You could call it a street car named desire. (OUCH!!!!)

I think the disparity in weight between the two cars, the difference in aero mods, and the similarity in tires makes for 3 very close cars: yours, mine, and Greg's. The times of the weekend seem to bear that out.

Sorry I'll miss Chuckwalla, but WISR and Buttonwillow will be grat fun.

Great pics, Greg -- Thanks!! Great weekend, Everyone -- Thanks!!

It's all Great when you can improve your personal best by a second and half and the car is still running at the end of the weekend :D . Now, I'm wondering how do I do something like that at CVR next month :? , but I better just stay in the moment for a while. You never know... :?:

I'm sure that it wasn't my driving. It's only a 944 S. Does S stand for Scary? Does SC stand for Scary Car? :roflmao:
