A friend and me were driving around this past weekend looking for good roads to drive our 914's on (in a safe and legal manor, of course). We found some decent roads on our quest. But that led me to pose the question: "What is the best driving road in North County?"
Thoughts?

that's highly dependant on whether you have any suspension travel

Few individuals extant know North County roads like two-time Enthusiast of the Year, Excellence Magazine Cover Story Boy, and all 'round nice guy Keith Verlaque.
If he's reading this ... Keith: Couser Canyon and environs would be quite suitable, yes?
Try PM-ing Keith and see what he recommends. He's the master of back-country roads.

i used to love highland valley, but with the new suspension it's less "canyon drive" and more "pinball game"...

A couple that come to mind from when I put on rallys;
Mesa Grande, from SR76 to SR 79. Probably my favorite.
Palomar East Grade. Tons of MC traffic on weekends though.

Wynola Road between the 79 and 78 is always fun and scenic.

If you're going to do Highland Valley Road and Wynola Road/Farmers Road, might as well connect them via Old Julian Highway (going both ways)...

fotunately, from my roadie cyclist perspective, you've missed a few gems since they are often blocked to cars.
JOY!

As a Julian resident I have a particular affection for Highway 79 between Julian and Interstate 8. It is less traveled than the 78, has a variety of sections including passing zones and is very scenic. It was my commute to work for many years.
