Fun event at the Q yesterday.
Very nice tent set up with AC and wood floors for a short intro and then out to drive.
First on a lead and follow exercise with Panamera GTS, 991 Carrera and 991 Carrera S in the west lot. Nice track and had great time when behind the instructor in Panamera  , but first 2 laps were behind slower drivers who could not keep up with leader :banghead:

Next to the southwest lot behind the trolley and they had a short AX course to drive with instructor in 981 Boxster S and then "drag" starts in V8 Panamera or Cayenne vs V6 Hybrid of same. Was impressed with the off the line speed of the hybrid system. Brakes were pretty good too.

I was there yesterday as well, and it was a very entertaining event. And the Panamera and 991 are both very impressive in their own way!

I wish the Panamera had seating for 5, and I wish the PDK would quit over-riding what I tell it to do :banghead: To be fair it is way better than what BMW and Ferrari offer, and seems to work perfectly well in normal driving, but can someone tell me why no matter what mode the thing is in, it will downshift and screw up the balance of the car if you floor it??? I wanted 3rd gear, put it into 3rd manually, came out of the corner smoothly at 4k rpm, and it downshifts to second, causing the rear to have too much power and kickout, which causes the traction control to kick. LET ME DRIVE!!!

As you can tell, they did actually let you test the cars and have fun. All the cars seems to be handling the abuse quite well, though it was funny to see the tire pressures over 50psi and we were in the cool of the morning! Lets say the 991S was a little loose with those tire temps :D

Bret and I went last week to the one in Fontana - they set up a lead and follow on the infield. Fun event, but the last two times I went there was (much) more driving time.

A fellow engineer from my office went and had absolutely no performance driving experience. He was telling me how much fun it was "to race Porsches" and that he was shocked he
"couldn't keep up with the leader" in his group.

maybe you were behind him Greg!

Went on Wed afternoon with one of my daughters. What a first class event Porsche put on. My instructor from the Porsche Performance Diving School in Alabama for the autocross in the 981S is currently the pace car driver for the ALMS series. It was great as he gradually toggled up all the electronic settings to full performance from street cruiser. I could really feel the difference in performance enhancements. Lots of fun, and a nice party favor when finished.
