Mike, very nice!!!!

Do you think you could make it any stiffer with all those bars in the rear

Can't wait to see it all finished. Will you make it to PCA and/or POC Fontana events with the car finished?

Mike - Congrats - I know this version will be executed as well or better as the former version (which was gorgeous BTW). I look forward to seeing you kickin some butt in the red run group.

Lot of us have slid down the slope a bit but you have done it once, took a short break and then pushed off down the slope a second time!

Thanks guys, PCA TT and club races, Alfa club and TCRA races too.
These rainy weekends make being without a race car much easier. :D

You are runnin scared! Were you afraid I was too close?

joking aside, that will be a great look! Looks like I will have to pop for the built 3.4 upgrade early... Although I'll have to cut the flares off and leave them off for the bigger tires....

It would be lighter than carbon fiber.
You had the chance when you recontoured your flares.

Will it still fit on the track, or will you scrape the wall and throw rocks from the infield at the same time

exactly. :D
Jack Miller said Steve Grosskemper and I need to park on the track side by side (not touching the dirt) before he will allow us in the same run session. :D

Mike - Wow, awesome project. I am more familiar with older engines. Is the powerplant a stock 993 or something more wild?

I now know the true meaning of RSR - Really Serious Roadhog

Hi Pete. :D RSR, it is that.

My buddy Vic Ofner built the engine. Vic is a Porsche factory trained mech. Back in the 80s he spent 4 years at the Porsche factory completing the factory mechanic school and then stayed on for 6 more months building 962 engines. He is a great guy and I’m really looking forward to tracking this 3.6 he built for me.

The engine has been upgraded some, more for longevity than peak hp.
I need to get it all in a document but off the top of my head…
Stock compression.
Super cup cams with 964 style cam gears should give it a small boost.
Typical adjustable fuel regulator and custom chip, Nology wires and coil amplifiers with the stock induction and jet hot coated headers. Very light intake blending, stock size valves with heavy duty valve springs and titanium retainers.
Other mods…
Everything has been balanced. Carrillo rods and dowel pins installed in the case. RSR solid rockers replace the stock hydraulic style rockers. Windage mods, boat tailed case and cylinder bases and piston skirts machined for windage purposes as well. Light weight flywheel and Center Force clutch.
Vic is real believer in the Cyro, lubrication and heat treatments available today. Pardon me if I am less than technical here…The top of the pistons and the valve face surfaces received heat dissipating treatments.
The Piston sides received a lubrication treatment. The Valve springs and retainers received a Cyro treatment.

When it’s all ready Jae (Mirage International) will tune it up on a wheel dyno.

Mike:

Looks like you won't be autocrossing or QDE-ing the new beast .... it won't fit in the lanes between the cones!!  How you gonna pass someone with our current passing-lane widths? :?

A little wider, and you'll qualify for a yellow sign front-and-rear with an escort vehicle that says "Oversized." Dude, you're WOOC (way out of control).

I can't wait to see and hear the new generation Mike Machine. Should be a hoot.

Mike,
I don't see why that wouldn't be an AM car.

I just got an email from Derek Bell and he is planning on bringing his old Rothmans sponsored 962 out to run with us. He won LeMans overall with the car, but in PCASDR it's just an AM car. :D
