We had a great time at Buttonwillow, a very well run and fun event!

Unfortunately Tuffy had clutch issues late Saturday. RSR Autosport jumped in and took a swing at the trouble and got him running enough to do one practice session on Sunday and timed laps. Thanks Ryan and Alan! Since the car was up on stands we also replaced a CV boot and cleaned/regreased the CV joint. Timed Laps went very well, even with having to hit every shift exactly right and not having 5th gear.

Nearly spent Toyo 888s and pushing for everything we could get netted me a "coveted" John Deer Award. I do apologize for any inconvenience that may have caused. Here's how I nabbed that one.

Mark: GREAT video.

Here was my best session of the weekend. After warming up with Otto, I managed to psych up with the blue BMW and Rick Sylvestri. After that .... I heard the voices of Rondeau and Grosekemper telling me I'd be better equipped wearing a dress instead of a driving suit based on my times.

Regrettably, I didn't see another lap quite like that one in Timed-Runs. But, for a car that has a CD player, full carpet, electric windows, heat and defroster, full headliner, and 3-point seat belts for the street, it isn't that bad a time. The best part: trimming almost 7 seconds off my best time last year (2:14:xx) ... I have not complaints. Timed runs this year were still 3+ seconds faster than last year (which was my best to date).

BIG thanks to Mark Kinninger for a great engine; Jae Lee for a great wing, Steve Grosekemper for great suspension work, and Mark Rondeau (and Steve G.) for continually putting the boot to my a$$ to drive faster.

Sometimes i's nice to have a little inspiration. Here, Steve is giving Mark R's car a shake-down run after the red and yellow car was parked. If Elmer Fud was driving he'd be saying: "Shhh! Be verwee, verwee, qwiet! I'm hunting Gwosekempah, Huh-huh-huh-huh-huh!" (Yeah, someone's gonna say "But Elmer Fud was driving!" Yeah, yeah, yeah. )

Some cool things about this weekend:

-Fresh-built engine from Kinninger ran perfectly, with nary a drop of oil burned or leaked.
-New "sport" exhaust built by Steve Grosekemper sounds awesome (If you have good earphones or speakers, turn them on. The symphony is just beautiful)
-The weather was perfect... Well, maybe a little warm on Sunday, but still great.
-The Club Racers had a great time with the Time Trial gang (And, Kudos to our Regional President Greg Phillips for makin' it happen. Good on ya, Greg!).
-Great to see some ol' friends back at the track (Glenn Marlin, John Payne, etc.)

My timed laps and Pauls are up at our website. Mine is just below the John Deer vid. We managed back to back 2.16.54 & 2.16.24 laps despite a bad clutch and no fifth gear. Our best laps of the weekend and 8 seconds faster than last time we were there.

NICE! You didn't tell me you had 4-wheels off at Sunset. I love the tank-slapper Steve did at 5:20. That was a great save!

I'm definitely looking forward to the next event, when I get to play in Red. There should be some fine videos then.

My minor excursion at Sunset was really a non event. I wasn't going to slow down and let the dirt cloud catch up to me.

Steve was on a roll (slide?) that session. I believe those tires were disposed of immediately afterward.

This was really fun. I've known George T. for years. I knew him back in the early 2000's when he autocrossed 912's and early 911's. Here we're playing with his early 70's 911, highly modified with fiberglass flares, 265/315 tires, a tuned 3.4, and plenty of gumption. I had to work hard to keep up. With 245/265's on a 2720-lb SC that is a "tame" street car with some track mod's, it was great to play with George. Thanks, George! I hope you can post your vid's, too.

Sunday morning I took a few people out in the Silver Bullet. Dave H., Dan H. and Dan C.. All of them came back in pretty much the same condition they went out in.

Nice stuff guys, nothing like practicing field plowing at BW to make your day. I have surely done my share. Hated missing Sunday but looks like a blown head gasket along with some electrical glitch that had me short shifting at 5200 rpm all day saturday.

How were those front tires Mike?
