Yup, that's right the name of the new Porsche will be "Cayman!" Which I presume is really a Boxster Coupe.

Perhaps Porsche should build a 997RSR "road version" track car with prismatic paint that changes color, and reveals your car number, with the changing angle of the sun......

Well it does look like a Cayman (but the name in english is bad, try to replace the "C" with a "G"). Boxster Coupe would be much better.

The car looks great and it will have a 3.4l with 295hp which will be interesting and pi$$ o77 some 996 owners evtl even 997 owners.

For some reason the red picture looks too long, kind of pregnant really. Anyone else see that also? reminds of the old Datsun 260 and 280 Z's that were 2+2's.

In a way I like the Boxster Coupe but for 65k I can get a nice used GT3 in 2006

Would be a great little car (more rigid and lighter than a Box) if only they'd have used true dry sump given it should produce more lateral Gs than the 996 with the same motor Sean is having warranty problems with. It shouldn't take long at Qualcomm before the Cayman starts smoking. But hey, it sure beats the sedan talk lately since at least this car is a sports car (instead of say... a V6 SUV).

Looking at the photos, I've come to a rather unfortunate conclusion......


6' 4" tall guys probably won't fit....especially with a helmet on. Like the Lotus Esprit, this looks like a car built for Napoleon, and those with his complex

There's no doubt that Porsche is no longer the same Porsche .................sad.

I wonder why Porsche doesn't do some taste testing with their fans instead of just throwing something new and wierd out there and telling us we should love it because it's "instantly Porsche." That last phrase is , of course, their transparent attempt to get us to accept this new model quicker.
Maybe Porsche should try something which would be new and wierd to them at present.............try building great sports and racing cars, then race them to show the world how good they are.
Pretty fresh idea, huh? Think they'll go for it? I know, it's kinda out there.........

Someone went to a lot of trouble to come up with a name to confuse people with the Cayenne

They definitely ask people what they think before they release a new model. I got paid a couple hundred bucks to give my impressions of the Cayenne the year before it came out. So I suppose what it comes down to is what your definition of "fans" is.

For Porsche (and any company that's trying sell a product, really) it tends to be the demographic group(s) that their research tells them will maximize revenue because their goal is to maximize shareholder value. That may not make their (few?) "true" fans happy, but it keeps 'em in business.
