Maybe the stadium can settle out of court for a few $100,000...
No wonder they dont have money for a new asphalt parking lot. :banghead:

I feel sorry for the organization and the vendors who participated in this. However, we witnessed the slow, painful demise of the Clairemont Farmer's Market that is (was) organized on South Morena Blvd. this last year. At its inception the Clairemont FM had somewhere north of 40 vendors selling everything from organic fruits an veggies to hand-woven baskets and wind chimes. By December, the number of vendors was down to about 15 or 20, and the selection was pretty sparse. I've frequented Farmer's Markets in the communities O.B., Del Mar, Clairemont, Downtown San Diego, Hilcrest. They all have a different day of the week that they are open. What I observed: it's the same vendors at each of these markets. You can say hello to the fish guy, the organic egg booth, the leafy-greens guy, 4 to 5 times a week if you travel around town. Why someone would want to add another Farmer's Market day ... a weekend day, no less ... is beyond my sense of business.

Let's hope we still have availability to the weekend days for driving events.

If they file their legal papers in ALL CAPS, they WILL be tied up for years.

Bravo!

Dan,
Agreed. I too feel bad for the vendors who plunked down their money and got nothing. However, the event organizers are a different story. I resent that they tried to take almost every weekend away from other groups who use the stadium and/or it's parking lots. Not only that, they wanted to take the west lot, the one most useable for driving events, when they could use the northeast and/or southeast lots, which aren't so useable for driving anymore due to pavement neglect and nails left sticking up above the surface! The Southeast lot is still adjacent to the trolley station like they wanted.
So where were they thinking all the car clubs would race if they took all the dates? They weren't thinking about us at all. We have no other local place to go when they can do their thing almost anywhere, as evidenced by the number of farmer's markets around town ( which I enjoy attending). Racing at the stadium is a part of San Diego's culture and has been for a long time. It's a shame that they would try to remove that from what San Diego is. We're a sports car town.
I say the organizers got what they deserved. Bad karma.
On the other hand......us car club members worked with our hands, on a weekend, to help the City/ Stadium maintain a useable, rentable lot - a service to the entire community. Good karma.
Yup. I'm content with my actions and this outcome. Are they?
Maybe we should help point them to a more suitable site. How about the middle of Montgomery Field? Lots of room for parking. I understand only a few thousand San Diegans use that site as well.......
