Cars and Coffee

This morning was my second visit to the outlets in Carlsbad for the gathering. It was great fun and turned into an adventure. I saw many old Club members and friends. Kenyon Blower was there as well as Don Traver. Have you seen Ted Witte's new Boxster with the cool exhaust and the painted Roll Hoops?

I drove my Bug Eye Sprite. When I was heading home on the 5 South, fortunately I was in the right lane. Its pretty hard to run with 80 plus mile an hour traffic with 948 c.c. The engine stopped! I pulled to the curb cursing Joseph Lucas as I opened the bonnet. I looked around and everything seemed to be in place. I check for spark at the plugs and there wasn't any. On further inspection I found the distributor had popped out of the block. Lucas had nothing to do with the clamp not being tight. After reseating the distributor and having no tools I used a micro-fiber polishng cloth from the side pocket and Cal-Trans donated a land scaping stake. I wedged the stake between the frame the distributor cap using the cloth as a cushion and a tensioner and drove home :burnout:

Ted,
Those of us with British Sports Cars bow our heads in understanding - both in the need for such a fix as well as the cursing of the prince of darkness! :banghead:
