I've had a few first time members to Chuckwalla Valley Raceway ask about a Caravan. I will be leaving the coast around 10:30AM on 8E heading to the 163 then the 15N. This will be my first trip to Chuckwalla. I received some great advice on getting out to the track and where to set up. I have GPS. I hope it works out in no-mans land. We will be driving a 40' Fleetwood Brown Motorhome pulling a white enclosed trailer. As you pass me on road give us a wave. Tuck in behind us and hope for the best. PM if you want my phone number. Hint number is my license plate on the black 964.

Read everything in the event letter and most questions will be answered regarding our TT/DE events. Directions to the hotel and track are included. Robert and Jack have put together some great information for your use and being prepared before you leave your house will make for a considerably more pleasant experience. Those who show up unprepared tend to have a different experience.

A tip I received from one of the drivers last year: There are some large LPG tanks on the right-hand side of the road near the Desert Center Rice Rd turn-off to the track. You can't miss it since its probably the only landmark there is. Hopefully it is still there from last year. Have fun!

As landmark, look for the new cell tower at the turn off, as well as the large white tank (mentioned earlier) with the name on it. The cell tower is gun-metal grey and is fairly tall, so it's easy to see from a mile or two out.
As Mr. Rondeau points out, preparation is key. Check your list … two or three times … before departing. Chuckwalla is truly in the middle of nowhere, and just down the road from Hell. If you need something and didn't bring it … you will not be happy.

LOL
When i read the directions to "look for the tank at the track turnoff", i was looking for am "army-type tank"
turns out it is a large gas cylinder tank, not a shoot-em-up one......

I hope you made it ok!
Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) is what I meant. Asking for a gas boo-tel at Home Depot led to a lot of confusion... so now I call it LPG.
