Question about other region's events

Postby lagrasta on Fri Jan 31, 2014 10:29 am

One of the things I've wanted to do with my Porsche is to get it on the track at Spring Mountain. (Since I've run it several times in a previous vehicle.) I noticed that Las Vegas region is doing a DE there in April and I realized that I've never gone to another region's event.

Is it all really the same club? Can I just sign up and go to these other events?

This event is listed for Friday-Sunday. Does anyone know if you can run just one day?

I've sent an email to them but haven't got a response yet. Sorry if these are dumb questions.

Thanks,
Mike

Mike,

In general, yes--it is all the same club, and I have run other region's events with no problems many times in the past. There will be some slight deviations in procedures, forms, etc. (and someone else may be using your car number already) but you will be welcomed. Have you been to their website? Some of your questions will be answered there. Start with http://www.lasvegaspca.com/drivered.htm. Their tech and registration forms are linked there. Their reg form (http://lasvegaspca.com/Docs/DE-Registration.pdf) states that you can run Sat. or Sun. or both days. There is also a contact phone number you might want to try on it for more info about registering. Some communication regarding your DE experience should be done ahead of time if you want to get a waiver from their Introductory Driving School for new drivers, and perhaps some clarification about tech inspection by other than their approved stations might be in order (they will likely accept one of our DE/TT tech stations as well, but best to check). It looks like their online registration for that event is not open yet, but you could get your email address on their list so you are informed as soon as it is.

I think several other SDR members have run with them at Spring Mountain in the past (Mike G. and Paul Y. maybe?), so perhaps they'll chime in with more info here.
