Wellll...I am working within the system...or is it just working the system? :roflmao:

In the proposed CC sytem I will come in at 290pts, until I add a strut tower brace and make it an even 300 maxing the CC15 catagory. By the way I like the clarity of the proposed rule change.

Hey if you can take 6 free points and still be in street stock go for it. Seems intrinisically wrong to allow 6 points to a street stock car, but rules is rules!

Its Andy's fault, and yours! He drives so dang fast :surr: I gotta pull every rabbit out of the hat I can. And with you always running right there with him  ...dang it time to OPTIMIZE. :burnout: To top it off I miss on the Sunday events. I gotta keep up in points somehow!

Actually had always I planned to eventually make changes with suspension, so since I can't compete till January I can use the funds to help do them. :beerchug:

You're putting stiffer springs in the front, right? I've seen your videos and scrambled for my life while corner working...dialing out some oversteer would be beneficial...

Yes I am stiffening up the front as well. Though I have had times of "tail happy" moments I dont think I have endangered a corner worker yet, though Morgan Trotter DID have a lots happening at once during the last AX when I spun going out of his worner working territory and Jackie spun going into his territory at nearly the same moment  .

However if I have given you moments of fright or you had to scramble because of me, I humbly apologize.

Oversteer is a good thing. It's a lot easier to work with if you know what you're doing and if driven properly, it's faster. Understeer is a bad thing. Not much you can do except unsettle the car and pitch it or wait...........until it finally comes around. :banghead:

mrondeau wrote:In AS/S through JS/S, you get 6 points. (A flaw in our current rules) to use as you wish as long as you run 140 or higher tread wear tires. In a GSS car you could change springs and torsion bars (2pts), sway bars (2 points) and camber plates (2 pts) and run 140 tread wear tires. By going to RA1's, you would be in GS class and maxed out at 8 points. Never made much sense to me. :?:

As I remember it, the logic for the difference between the S/S class rules for the older model cars vs. newer ones was based in the fact that it is far more difficult and expensive to maintain the "vintage" models in the strict S/S legal form, with all the "exclusion" factors. OEM replacement parts for airboxes, bumpers, lids, exhausts, wheels, etc., are either NLA or extremely expensive, in many cases. Over the years, the older cars have been modified with aftermarket parts during routine maintenance and repair that excluded them from the S/S class in many instances. When the original S/S rules were adopted, all classes were treated the same and there was a precipitous drop in participation in the lower S/S classes due to this. There was quite an outcry from people with older cars who wanted to run street tires but were forced into S class with either more than 2 points or a single aftermarket mod that excluded them. The rules were changed after a couple years to accommodate them, doing away with the exclusion list and raising the mod points allowed, and participation in those lower S/S classes came back to current higher levels.

Whether you think this is a "flaw" or a clever accommodation depends on which side of the fence you are on, I suppose, but consider that there are no S/S classes at all for older cars under the Parade Competition Rules, which our rule changes at the time were intended to emulate--they all have to run in P or M--and there were no street tire classes at all under our older rule sets--everyone ran R tires or they weren't competitive.

I'm just giving you a hard time about the oversteer...I've got a stock T bar sitting on my garage floor if you want to compare it to the new one (for the splines) before you rip apart the suspension. I live in Murrieta, so I think you're local to me. I've done the T bar job twice myself, so let me know if you need a hand.

WHEW! Glad to hear! Although it could be like that country song, "I Miss My Ex-wife, but My Aim is Getting Better". Maybe I just need to aim better and keep ya scrambling? :roflmao:

I greatly apreciate the offer of assistance as I am not intending on attempting it solo. Morgan T offered to assist in indexing, so maybe between the three of us (four if I wrangle Paul Y into it 8) ) we can get it done. The T-Bars are on their way, but I will hold off on the project untill I have springs as well. Cool that you live in Murrieta we need to get together!

Mr. Bray, a quick question. What size are you pulling out of Tuffy? Were they upgraded to match the 250lb. springs you were running up front. And if not, what would be the recommended size torsion bars to match those? I only ask because I'm interested in those 250's you're pulling out.

To my knowledge they are the stock ones and are working will with the 250's I am removing. Those springs are reserved for you as we discussed. I am working on getting a "pull" date set but will let ya know when they are off.
