Weight Shedding

Hmmmm ... so I am noting that I can loose up thru 49 lbs. off our weight without penalty.

Does this mean 49 lbs. off of the cabriolet's published model curb weight or 3021?

OR does it mean 49 lbs. off of the 944 S2's published curb weight of 2889 (only makes sense since I have to compete against the lighter car)?

OR what does this mean???

It is based on the published curb weight in the owners manual for the base car. (coupe)

But that doesn't mean your car weighs that. It is probably much heavier.

So what I hear you saying, Steve, is that I can get down to 2972 without penalty ... AND ... I am probably a bit over the 3021 at this point.

Kinda like this old body ... can loose quite a bit of weight before it hurts!

HOW/WHERE does one get a car weighed in an accurate and, hopefully, inexpensive fashion??

Suppose I could use Kim's Physics method and just trace tire patches

A few of the truck stops have certified scales as well as some of the EDCO trash transfer stations. I think the certifed(with weight slip)prices are approx $15.00 and some times they will just verbal it for less. Good Luck

Most of the local Porsche shops that do a lot of suspension work all have scales. I know Black Forrest, and Mirage have scales as do we here at Dieter's. I am not sure of who else does.
Weighing is cheap, corner balance is another story.
PM Tom Tweed as he knows some truck scales that do it for $20 or something like that. Not as accurate but close enough for your purposes.

I usually go to Edco's recycling center on Federal Blvd. You can get a non-certified weight slip from them for $3 (at least that's what it used to cost--haven't done it in about a year). Their scales are probably accurate to within +/- 20 lbs. or so. which is probably close enough.

I have also used the scales at Alexander's Moving and Storage in Kearney Mesa. I think they charged $5 for a non-certified weight the last time I went there.

I did check at Sycamore Landfill this morning and the wonderful gals there said they'd do it for nothing! Must like Porsches or something
